#stimulus
I had not been thinking about this in that way (hunger as a stimulus to the right). New insight to this mess. Thanks.

Indeed. Although Haldane is misleading on entire profession, as there were plenty of even mainstream economists (Krugman most prominently, Portes and Wren-Lewis in UK) screaming for more fiscal stimulus at the time.

4. This worked fine until we realized… there isn’t enough shiny rock for all the papers we want.
5. Every time a new war, crisis, or “economic stimulus” happened, governments wanted to print more papers.
6. But the gold vault said “no.”

Not a fan of “PIFS” as it excludes a bunch of us with the same prolonged immune activation following non infectious immune stimulus.

The base cult is probably a lost cause, but from what I can tell, a lot of the flip-flop voters from 2024 bought the hype about how Trump would fix the economy and maybe make them all rich, or at least send them a big fat stimulus check.

THOSE voters may be realizing by now that they were scammed.

Of all the merch they put out outside of the Ash 4 President stimulus packages they sent out for season 2 a foul mouthed puppet took over, but Evil Dead: The Game did come out in 2022 with Ruby as a playable character who can carry a sword which is the closest we will get to seeing Xena in a game.

I'd add that interpretations of blindsight as involving "a stimulus that does not enter consciousness" are quite controversial, for some of the same reasons. My collaborator @ianbphillips.bsky.social has written what is, in my view, the definitive treatment: www.ianbphillips.com/uploads/2/2/...

We also use detection-theoretic statistics to show that our subjects, as a group, are conservative in their reports of awareness, giving additional reason to think that those who say "no" to yes/no questions about whether they noticed a given stimulus are actually playing it safe with their answers.

It's a great question! In this case the 'subsequent choices' are explicit reports about the very stimulus in question. Subjects can tell us where the stimulus was located on the display, what color it was, and so on. We think the natural explanation of such accurate reports is that they could see it

I'm completely ignorant about this line of research so forgive what is probably a dumb question but: how is this different from other phenomena, like priming, or blindsight, in which a stimulus that does not enter consciousness nonetheless influences subsequent choices?

The biggest failure of the Obama era was doing austerity, making the economic recovery anemically slow.

The central policy of the Biden era was to provide a ton of financial stimulus during COVID, making the economy boom.

Biden's biggest failure was letting the fascists go free.

This is the same party of Mitch McConnell, who said that Americans weren’t working because they were “flush with cash” as a result of getting a lone $1400 stimulus check over a year prior to his statement.

I’d say that’s a matter of opinion. My opinion is that the biggest failure of the Obama Admin was failing to go after the Bush Admin team for their war crimes and other associated criminal behavior.

If you’d say the big stimulus to stave off a second Great Recession, I’d agree it’s a close second.

I've been saying that for a while as it has the world’s #2 population, #2 large market, and the largest middle class, CPC works for all people. I myself saw the stimulus working there last year driving the consumer spending. Marxist-Leninists understand capitalism better than so-called Capitalists🤷‍♂️👇

Regarding the current cancellation of SNAP:

During Pedoführer 1.0 I was given two "stimulus checks" as an attempt to distract and I donated both to local food-banks for I did not need them.

I was called a "retarded faggot" by a former coworker when I told them and all I replied with was "And?".
