I disagree but that's mainly because Reclusa is a major spoiler character from a relatively recent storyheavy game that hasn't become par of the public conciousness. Having him in a party game would be kinda the same as Sakurai casually dropping JRPG spoilers left and right in smash.

Please do. I have played a little bit on Until Then and the demo of afterlove EP and what I playd was really good, especially if you like those storyheavy almost vn like adventure games. Haven't played A space unbound yet though I own it.

I think it's wlid that in the span of last couple years we have had not just one, not just two but THREE indonesian storyheavy coming of age adventure games that tell the tragic relationshipi between a boy and a girl using supernatural elements and yet no one has done a video essay about them.

A friend of mine is going to show his soon-to-be-released Storyheavy Portal-Like Game "Causal Loop" on gamescom, which is looking pretty amazing if I may say so. So if you happen to be there, say Hi to the guys at @causalloop-game.bsky.social
Here is the Reveal Trailer:

Ultimately while I do think Brothership has an audience as it is THAT kind of storyheavy Nintendo game which just gets, it didnt gather that for one reason or another. Whether that be the IGN review, being released too late in switchs cycle or people just nlt caring for these kinds of games anymore.

I have been playing #Wanderstop
I have finished it. I want more of it. I understand that the story is told and done, but what a wonderful story it was. If you like #storyheavy #vidrogames that pull on your heart. I can't recommend it more.

I never enjoyed games with a formula like Fortnite or Overwatch….
And now look at me…
I play Fortnite… I start to delve into Marvel Rivals….

And I suck at both but sometimes a not so storyheavy game is nice too…

God can people stop separating plot and character writing, as well as mainquests and sidequests when talking about storyheavy games, especially JRPGs.

i agree with this. there are games that seamlessly weave in quick time events for storyheavy segments and still feel dynamic like the ultimate ninja storm series. there are ones that never use QTE's and still nail it. Dark Souls, and more prominently Elden Ring come to mind for instance.

Tbf a lot of hardcore TTYD fans like TTYD for its more serious and storyheavy moments too, to the point rhat some people overplay that aspect and forget it is ultimately a rather episodic game storywise.

I'm an avid replayer, but I'm also hooked on the dopamine rush of something new 😂 Once I get hooked I tend to stay with a game for a long time, so I'm drawn to games that can be replayed but with variables like builds etc. Roguelikes, ARPGS, etc. Storyheavy/bloated open worlds are usually 1 and done

If not I think the best measuring on whether its a kind of game you'd enjoy is tied to if you like slow burn storyheavy but initially lighthearted JRPGs in general. A close friend has compared it to Ps1-Ps2/GC era JRPGs, while I personality would compare it to the likes of Trails or Xenoblade.

Like. Similar structure. Similar tone. Similarly storyheavy yet also having most its content be sidequests. Similar "starts fun before hitting yo with a gut". Zokket is basically a Trails villain. There are sequelhooks that will be paid off in later games. There's getting over barrier.

Brothership seems to get positive reviews from everyone save for Ign (lol, lmao even) but they seem to be mostly gameplay focused.

Which is fine and all but I'm really curious how people felt about the games writing, since it seems to be a bit more storyheavy compared to the past entries.
