Some dishes don’t chase attention — they simply earn it.
A slow Moroccan vegetable tagine is one of them...Hours, not minutes. Warm spices, not fireworks. A kitchen that smells like saffron and patience, simmering their way into memory.

Fun fact [*]: they're called "tag"s because the "<" is shaped like the lid used to make "tagine".
How is HTML just this young? It seems like it's been around forever. Happy Birthday, tag!

I Marrakech fik jeg en tagine, der minder meget om denne, bortset fra, at der var tilføjet kødboller.
Meget lækkert!

Clay tagine (Morocco)
This is another example of how she only considers a certain kind of white person to be an American, and that she needs to get out more.
They're also a unitasker and unless you're making Moroccan food regularly, a dutch oven with a self-basting lid is a better option.

The week’s menu at Bistro de la placette in Mirepeisset, Aude 11. On Sundays, they also serve a full English breakfast (“brunch”) and two types of Sunday roasts. Translation in ALT. 🍜🍽️🇫🇷

This entire list is ... stupid.
I don't own a tagine because I don't cook tagines often and when I do my cast iron pot works well enough. I don't use french tea towels because WHY WOULD I. grew up with a Moka pot and don't use one now because I use a drip coffee maker.

Aside from specialty pans (crepe pan, tagine), I don’t know a single American kitchen that doesn’t have almost all of these things.
This article is interesting mainly for blowing your mind as to how Americans don’t use the most basic of kitchen items like tea towels, a kettle, a pepper mill, etc 🤯
10 international kitchen staples most Americans haven’t caught on to yet
From French tea towels to Japanese knives, these international kitchen finds will make you ask: ‘Why don’t we have that?’

Like yes, we don't typically have a tagine dish just like we don't have a specialized cassoulet dish, because how often are you gonna make tagine? Just use a Dutch oven

You really expect me to believe people in Britain even know how to pronounce tortilla or tagine, let alone cook them regularly enough to have tools for it??

We have a tagine, but to be honest it gets used at most once every two or three years. The Dutch oven does just fine.

And the other half are hyper specific, but the TASK they serve is easily covered by something else. I can make a tagine in my dutch oven, crepes in literally anything large and shallow, and tortillas with a rolling pin.

I know it's bait but it's fascinating what a mix it is of "no, everyone I know has that" and "I'll get right on that just as soon as my vegetarian ass starts making tagine."

And even the ones I don’t have are a matter of kitchen size vs. frequency of use. I can make a crepe in my big skillet and a tagine in a Dutch oven - do I need the single-use pan for them, considering I don’t often make them?

I admit I don't own a tortilla press (I also didn't know that was a thing up until right this immediate moment, but.. tortillas are very available?)
... I also don't own a crepe pan, but never mind. How does this woman think most Americans have time to learn to use a tagine?!

but, like, this is not obscure kitchen equipment in the Southwest, seriously. and I don't see why I'd want a tagine when I own a goddamn cast iron dutch oven. like, is it exactly the same? no. do I give a fuck? also no. I do not have endless space in my kitchen for collecting weird shaped pans!
