Karolina Shigwedha of Ella du Plessis High School won the under-15 girls’ category, defeating Cadence Farmer of St Paul’s College.  Ester Nelenge from Olof Palme Primary School won both the under-13 and under-11 girls’ categories by beating Sylvi Ikanda of Hillside Primary School in both finals. Tournament and series coordinator Theo Beukes said the event set a record with 79 players, including 27 junior girls and 52 junior boys.  This represented a 35% participation rate for girls, meeting international guidelines to increase female involvement in tennis. Beukes noted that St Joseph’s Primary School from Rehoboth joined for the first time, contributing 22 players and introducing new talent.  He added that the tournament was a success with strong attendance and media coverage. “We extend our gratitude to our sponsors for their continued support in growing our beloved sport. The date for the fourth tournament will be announced soon,” Beukes said.
