Tuesday's Joy of Katy! Katy has had friends in gen ed classes, in special ed classes, on regular sports teams, on Special Olympics teams, & among her cousins. This photo was taken at a Special Olympics meet with her best friend (& 1st 'boyfriend'). Katy is a good friend! #DownSyndrome #theluckyfew

A Tuesday Joy of Katy! Here she is on her very first day of Kindergarten! Kate LOVED school. We were exceedingly fortunate that she had (mostly) amazing teachers! In Kindergarten, she attended regular K in the morning and SpEd in the afternoon. It worked beautifully! #DownSyndrome #theluckyfew

Friday's Joy of Katy post! Katy's last day of Kindergarten (she had two years of full inclusion in Kindergarten! She recited 'October' from Chicken Soup With Rice. This is also the LAST photo of Kate with unscarred knees. The very next day she had her first knee surgery. #DownSyndrome #theluckyfew

Another Joy of Katy Day! By the time she was 3 or 4, Kate wanted to climb EVERYTHING! I LOVE the look of determination in the second photo. That determination has served her well throughout her life and helped her realize an independent adult life for 15 years! #DownSyndrome #theluckyfew
