I shall reserve my final judgment when the game gets to be released in full - whenever that may be. There is a public demo for it and I decisively recommend checking that one out.

Emphatically, this is a good RPG: one of the best I played in recent memory and certainly one of the most interesting in terms of its transliteration of table top design philosophies into a videoludic context. Keep in mind that it's still in early access!

That said, I was able to beat it and absolutely loved the experience in the process. Both the endings I saw stuck to the landing in satisfying fashion, the journey to get to them was harrowing but wondrous, all the same.

Here we have the sort of unique independent project that lives or dies by its ideas and conceit, more so than by its accessibility. Even at its easiest difficulty, it's quite arduous to get by if you lack the hand/eye coordination to pull off the quickest dodging.

As of right now, I have seen everything #TheUseofLife has to offer in terms of story and gameplay. It is a cleverly thought out title with neatly designed elements... It is also HARD! It absolutely destroyed my self-esteem a couple of times but I was too invested to quit.

If you would have told me the backgrounds of this game were made using TTRPG assets, I would have believed you. It is a good, functioning aesthetic that well applies to the turn-based progress - although, it gets visually busy on occasion.

You play as a vengeful bunny recently awakened to their true BATTLE SHOUNEN POWERS (TM) so that they can kill a really big dragon. Here's a picture of them experiencing a Guts moment.

I was taken by the quality of the illustrations and the occasional witty writing. I then became sold on it once the combat clicked with me: it's a dynamic "Paper Mario" style with dodging mechanics - which I usually don't enjoy, to be honest.

The questionably translated title #TheUseofLife is a RPG with a chapter-by-chapter narrative progression, wherein your avatar travels from grid to grid, coming across events, loot and enemy encounters, all determined by the roll of the dice. It is currently in early access.
