#suffolkbirds short sea watch at Thorpeness very quiet little passage but picked a distant Skua which I took for a Bonxie then closer in in same field of view a clear LT Skua! Never got to grips with the other Skua clearly bigger!

Met up with long-standing friends who are visiting Suffolk this morning for a catch up. Birding was varied and productive. Super close Manx Shearwater and confiding Firecrest at Thorpeness were the highlights, the latter my first of the autumn, as was a Rock Pipit at Slaughden.

Have a safe trip, Aldeburgh (incl Thorpeness), Framlingham & Southwold really lovely towns near to where you are, give Leiston a wide berth & Saxmundham not worth bothering with either apart from a good Tesco/Waitrose for supplies.

Pleasant day of #SuffolkBirding with a few decent scarce migrants. Confiding Hawfinch at Minsmere could be found by listening for haw seeds crunching! Also elusive Temmincks, Whimbrel, smart Redstart, Wheatear, Reed Wblr, Casp and YL Gulls here. Earlier, nice Ring Ouzel at Thorpeness but little else

Seen by David Fairhurst and count of 34 is minimum - likely over 40 seen as there was a massive turn over of gulls during both Saturday and Sunday. When it is windy the gulls come into the wetlands at Minsmere, Thorpeness Meare and Hollesley.
