Second part of this #thrillerbarkkanjuro comic
First Panel: Dr. Hogback is shown at his desk with multiple surgical tools laid out in front of him. He is about to reach for one when Kanjuro’s left hand slams down into his desk, causing him to look up in the direction the rest of Kanjuro is out of frame. Second Panel: Kanjuro is shown from the left side. He plainly says: “I need you to do something for me.” Third Panel: Hogback appears both annoyed and a little confused, putting both hands on the edge of the desk, he says: “Really? There are HOW many zombies around and you thought to pester me while I’m work-“ Fourth Panel: Hogback interrupts himself as Kanjuro shows him what is in his hand, going: “HUH!!???!!? What did you do?” Fifth Panel: A closeup of the palm of Kanjuro’s hand. It is stained with ink and he is holding five disembodied eyeballs. Sixth Panel: Kanjuro is in phased by Hogback’s reaction and just says: “There is nothing else that can be done, you may need to burn them.” Hogback is now away from his desk and is grabbing Kanjuro’s by his left wrist saying: “You can’t just take those!” First Panel: Only Hogback is shown in detail, but Kanjuro’s arm that he is still grabbing is visible. Hogback goes from shocked to angered and says: “Now just hold on a second!” Second Panel: Hogback shoves away Kanjuro’s arm, causing some of the eyes to drop on the floor as he continues speaking: “There are some of my zombies out there WITHOUT THEIR EYES, and you want ME to do something for YOU?” Third Panel: Kanjuro now has his back to Hogback, pivoting his attention towards picking the eyes up off the floor with his eyes obscured and just responds with: “You make it sound like this was my fault.” Which sets Hogback off even further from behind him going: “WHAT!!!!! You know these zombies are supposed to be our soldiers, not your punching bags. How is this in any way NOT your fault?” Fourth panel: The back of Kanjuro’s head is shown and makes the excuse of: “They made the mistake of seeing something they were not supposed to.” Fifth Panel: Hogback switches from being angry to confused by what Kanjuro’s had said, asking: “What is that supposed to mean?” Sixth Panel: A short panel of Hogback’s expression shifting with an ellipses appearing next to his head. Seventh Panel: Kanjuro’s full face is shown, and almost the entire space surrounding his right eye is shown to be covered in black ink, with some dripping down his face. Hogback reacts by asking: “What is wrong with your face.” to which Kanjuro replies with feigned offence with: “There’s no need to be so cruel.” Eighth Panel: Kanjuro turns his head to face Hogback properly and finishes his previous excuse he made in the fourth panel with: “Unfortunately, there was an accident. There was nothing I could do for them.” without any further elaboration.

From one holiday to the next, I can finally post more of the #thrillerbarkkanjuro comic. (There are two additional pages under this post too)
First panel: A scenery shot that takes place in a forest. No characters of note are present and the main focal point is a crow/bat hybrid zombie perched on a tree branch. Though there are two boxes at opposite corners narrating Kanjuro’s thoughts. They read: “I do not feel any different, was I supposed to?” Second Panel: Kanjuro is shown sitting cross-legged with his back to one of the trees. He appears to be staring at nothing in particular as he continues to think to himself: “This is bothersome… I do not feel ‘at ease’ at all.” Showing that Kanjuro is reflecting on what Moria had said to him the last time he was with him. Third Panel: Kanjuro’s concentration is disturbed by the crow/bat zombie from the first panel flying past him, very close to his face. Kanjuro flinches, holding his brush close to him with both hands and his expression reads as startled. Fourth Panel: No longer startled, Kanjuro appears to now be more frustrated and disgusted, thinking: “These *things* are not helping.” referring to the zombies present. First panel: Another scenery shot that mirrors the first panel on the first page, however now Kanjuro is seen walking through the forest, though he’s only visible as a silhouette. He thinks to himself: “Is he trying to get in my head? Or could it be that-“ Kanjuro’s thoughts are interrupted by someone out of frame yelling: “Hey! I had it first, give it back!” Second panel: Showing Kanjuro turning his head in the direction of the sound. Third Panel: Two zombies are shown having a physical struggle against each other over a green bottle which appears to contain some form of alcohol. The zombie on the left says: “This is the last bottle, you had more than enough.” Meanwhile the zombie on the right, trying to get the bottle back, responds: “How are you gonna drink it anyway, Tape Face?” Fourth Panel: A third zombie appears and is seen hanging on the shoulders of the zombie holding the bottle, instead of trying to get the bottle forcefully, they instead attempt to persuade them, saying: “You’re right. It’ll be much safer in my hands.” The zombie holding the bottle turns their attention towards the new zombie, and says: “Don’t get me started on you.” Meanwhile the zombie tk the far right is continuing to struggle for the bottle. Fifth Panel: It shows the bottle itself with the bandaged zombie’s hand on it. However it now also shows the zombie fighting for the bottle’s hand grabbing the neck of the bottle. Sixth Panel: While the zombies continue to struggle against each other, Kanjuro appears behind them, lowering himself to one knee to try to get down to their height as he towers above them. He says: “Excuse me…” to try to get their attention but is ignored. Seventh Panel: The zombie that had grabbed the bottle in the fifth panel has managed to grip onto the neck and pull it out of the bandages zombie’s hand. First Panel: The zombie that grabbed the bottle is holding it in both hands now. They have a smug look of glee as they look down on it and say: “Hah! You let them get your guard down!” referring to the other two zombies. Second Panel: The zombie proceeds to swing the bottle up behind their head in celebration and cheering: “Which means victory is MINE!” however it is short lived as large text reading “CRASH!!!” is shown, even though we do not see what the sound comes from. Third Panel: A reaction panel of other two zombies. Their expressions are blank except for their wide eyes. Fourth Panel: The zombie pulls the bottle back into the visible frame. However now have of it has been broken off and drink stats to drink out of whatever is left of the bottle. Confused, the zombie scratches their head with one hand and asks: “Heyyyy. Where did it go!” Fifth Panel: Kanjuro is shown behind the zombie with his eyes obscured, but it is shown that some of the liquid is running down his face and there are visible glass shards caught in his hair. Kanjuro shakily says: “My apologies, it would seem I had taken it for myself.” Sixth Panel: The zombie that had the bottle is pulled back and is now being held by the other two zombies, who are in turn holding themselves. All of them have wide eyes and scared expressions. The zombie on the left says: “Oh crap, this is bad!” The one of the right says: “Where did he come from? Was he behind us this whole time? Kanjuro now has his back to them and is shown attempting to pick the shards out of his hair, his eyes are still obscured and his expression is an unreadable line between angry and indifferent. First Panel: Kanjuro is once against shown as merely a silhouette from the side, his left hand touching his face where he had been struck. There are two speech bubbles, each from one of the zombies at each side of him. The one on the left reads: “That’s Master Moria’s new guy, right? It was only for a second, but I didn’t think I’d see what he ACTUALLY looks like.” the one on the right reads: “Yeah. I thought for some reason that he was naturally that pale.” Second Panel: Kanjuro is still merely a silhouette, but his hand has moved away from his face and his mouth is shown visibly open. Reacting either to what he had heard and what he had felt on his face. Third Panel: The zombie that broke the bottle is between the two zombies, with one hand on each of the other zombie’s shoulders. They interrupt them saying: “Who cares about that? It’s clear he doesn’t really have any interest in us or he would’ve done something already. This is all VERY interesting, really, but I think we should get out of here while we can. Unbeknownst to them, Kanjuro is standing behind them holding his brush over his shoulder with one hand. His hand is visibly shaking and he has an irritated expression. His eyes are once again obscured. Fourth Panel: Kanjuro is shown from the side swinging his brush with both hands akin to a baseball bat, catching all three zombies by the neck as they’re lifted off their feet by the swing. Their eyes are wide and the word: “TWACK!” is written above them as an onomatopoeia. A thick stroke of ink comes from the brush as it’s swung. Fifth Panel: Kanjuro is standing with his head out of view. Just showing his torso and his arms with his hands holding the brush. His left hand squeezes the bristles and ink is shown dripping from that spot. The three zombies are all shown knocked out against one tree. Kanjuro’s thought text boxes appear yet again and read: “If he (referring to Moria) wants me to be at ease, he is obligated to forgive me.”

Still not finished my next #thrillerbarkkanjuro comic. However I did draw this.
First Panel: Gecko Moria is lying on his side in bed. He has three pillows to prop up his neck relative to the rest of his body. He isn’t saying anything and has an indifferent looking expression on his face. Second Panel: Kanjuro is shown in the same bed, he’s propped up on his left elbow while his right arm hangs of the edge of the bed. He says: “You thrash around a lot in your sleep, are you aware of that?” Third Panel: Moria is rubbing the back of his head with his left hand as he starts to get up. He says “No. I don’t know how I’d-“ but cuts himself off. His expression is more annoyed. Fourth Panel: Moria is sitting up and is both confused and irritated. You can see he is wearing his regukar clothes, but with the collars on his arms removed. His left arm is bend and his hand is planted on the bed behind Kanjuro’s back while his right arm and hand points towards him. He asks: “WHAT ARE YOU DOING IN MY BED?” through gritted teeth. Kanjuro ks also sitting up, but apathetically replies: “I do not have my own.”

After some ruminating, and feeling like I have been teasing it for too long, I’ve decided to post the first part of my Thriller Bark Kanjuro comic anyway!

I do plan to follow up on this, so I made this tag to keep it in one place. #ThrillerBarkKanjuro
First Panel: Perona is looking down. Second Panel: Kanjuro is lying on the floor looking back up at Perona. He asks “Am I dead?” Perona responds saying “No”. Third Panel: Kanjuro is starting to sit up as Perona both fills him in and complains about how loud he was being, saying “You’ve been out for hours. I only came because it sounded like you were trying to WAKE the dead.” Kanjuro in turn dryly responds: “You’re selflessness is admirable.” Fourth Panel: Perona, not amused by his attempt at sarcasm, says: “Don’t mention it, or get used to it.” Fifth Panel: Kanjuro is looking away in the opposite direction, ignoring her and instead commenting: “Strange… I don’t recall losing consciousness.” Sixth Panel: Perona is standing behind Kanjuro as he looks down to the floor. Seventh Panel: Kanjuro starts to stand up and almost blocks out Perona from view, who is clutching her umbrella with both hands almost taken aback by his size. First panel: Perona is thinking to herself: “He seems very nonchalant about this whole thing. Does he even know what happened?” Second Panel: Perona’s thoughts are cut off as she gets startled, “EEK!” is scrawled across the panel. Third Panel: Kanjuro is standing with his back to Perona with his head turned towards her looking down asking: “And was that the ONLY reason you’re here?” How much he towers over her creates an intimidating image and Perona is uneasy. Fourth Panel: Scared, Perona points towards him and exclaims: “DON’T LOOK AT KE LIKE THAT, YOU FREAK!” Fifth Panel: Perona quickly tries to gather herself, though her hands wringing out her umbrella say otherwise about how calm she tries to appear, she cuts off her earlier exclaim by saying: “-but if we’re on the subject…” Sixth Panel: Perona is floating so she can make up for the difference in height and talk closer to Kanjuro’s level. She says: “You know, I’ve worked alongside Master Moria for many years. So I’ve seen this happen a lot, but most subjects get thrown out almost immediately. I can’t help but be a little curious on what it’s like to be you right now.” First Panel: Perona is seen slightly leaning away from Kanjuro but still facing him, her hair and hat slightly breaching the panel line. She asks “So… how do you feel?” Second Panel: Kanjuro doesn’t respond verbally, instead he looks down and places his left hand tk his chin as if he’s trying to think the answer through while Perona silently waits. Third Panel: Kanjuro places both hands against his lower back and attempts to stretch with a strained expression, claiming: “My back is a bit stiff-“ he’s cut off by Perona who yells: “THAT’S FROM SLEEPING ON THE FLOOR!” in frustration over him not taking the question seriously. Fourth Panel: Perona gets close to Kanjuro, placing her right hand on the top of his head and beginning to push downwards while using her free hand to point downwards. Dryly instructing: “Look down.” Fifth Panel: Crudely drawn small full body drawings of Kanjuro and Perona shown, Kanjuro is looking down while Perona has let go of him and is on the floor again but still pointing. Sixth Panel: It pans down to show the ground beneath their feet, Perona casts a shadow, Kanjuro doesn’t. He says: “My shadow is gone?” she quickly responds: “Yes! Your shadow is gone!” First Panel: Kanjuro lifts his left hand to behind his head, still looking down. He says: “That may explain how I passed our, but how did I get here?” Perona is still seen beside him, just as a head and shoulders, she responds: “That’s your concern?” not understanding how he doesn’t see the gravity of the situation. Second Panel: Kanjuro sits down cross legged on the floor, Perona is still standing next to him, but he’s clearly tuning her out. He is still looking down and starts to exposit what has happened to him earlier, he starts by saying: “I was somewhere else before this, and I was with Master Moria.” Third Panel: The start of a flashback sequence from Kanjuro’s perspective, a small box on the top left corner reads: “I remember a bright light.” Kanjuro is stood in front of a bright yellow light that shines on him. He is unnerved, one hand reaching for his brush while the other is clenched in a fist, his eyes pointed to the side as if trying to look behind him. Fourth Panel: Kanjuro turns his head angrily, as if he is ready to attack the source of the light. Fifth Panel: Kanjuro’s expression goes blank, as if something had stopped him completely in his tracks, the box at the bottom left side of the panel contextualised his change in attitude saying: “Then I heard him speak.” Sixth Panel: Gecko Moria is shown from the shoulders up, though you can also see his left hand where he is holding up a large pair of scissors, who’s blades are intruding on the panel lines. The background for this panel is multiple shades of grey as opposed to the rest of them, shrouding him in darkness despite the light dinky touching his shoulders. Moria’s eyes are wide and is grinning from ear to ear deviously, he says: “KISHISHISHI! On edge, are you? If you’d rather not look, that’s fine.” Seventh Panel: The darkness that surrounds Moria seeps into the panel of Kanjuro, who’s obediently looking into the light, Moria says: “Just look into the light, and soon you’ll be at ease again.”
