From the artist: I painted this after my artist friend, Magu, told me to start visualizing where I wanted to be. This isn't supposed to be me, but it is the kind of thing I want to see when I look out my windows. I'm closing the curtains, figuratively and literally, on what I now see here.......snow, bare trees, brown grass, blowing sand, pickup trucks, and streets devoid of sidewalks and pedestrians. I'll be glad to be rid of the ridiculously hokey local news here too. I woke up this morning to hear the lead story......... I finished this painting before taking off last week for Savannah to look at homes. I found a very nice 1928 brick home, and it looks like the deal will go through and will close on July 12, giving me one week to make the 1,750 drive from New Mexico. The title of this painting is a takeoff off of the flower "Daffodil". I planted 250 Daffodil bulbs last fall and was surrounded by their flowers this past spring. During a visit to a friend in Albuquerque, she showed me a photograph taken of her as a teenager in a convent. The image stuck with me and inspired me to paint this painting. I guess spring time inspired me to incorporate Mother Nature into it, even though it's snowed since I started this painting, and has been freezing every night since.
