We really were just a bunch of low income townhouses. Mostly everyone had them. We did our best to pretend we didn't. Dad did the shopping for the month and it was all in bulk. We'd spend hours shopping, come home, spend hours unpacking meat and repacking into meal sized packages

We used to get 50-80 kids per night at our house, mostly because my husband used to do film props, even though we were across from the park. But then the demographic shifted and parents started driving their kids to the higher density townhouses. This says... something.

One of my neighbors is currently really mad at me for saying that our property values are not going to drop 50% if the empty strip mall down the way is turned into townhouses.
My house has tripled in value in the last ten years. It probably should drop 50% and lower my taxes but this won't do it

Overall, it's clear I way overbought the candy. There are a ton of kids in this neighborhood, but my house is on kind of a weird side street with a small office strip and a bunch of townhouses that clearly aren't participating, so a lot of them are just skipping the block.

I always think it would make sense for the kids who live on this block -- and there are plenty, particularly in the townhouses across the street -- to hit this block either before being taken elsewhere, or after they get back. So I turn on my light and buy candy, and never managed to give it out.

google maps isn't selling it here visually, but this is a neighbourhood near me that I bike through a lot that is lined with townhouses on either side, a one-way road on either side, and then a paved park path through the middle of it all

for all that it is a big sprawling city, calgary does have townhouses as a density type on lock
we don't really have big residential towers (not like toronto or vancouver do) and so this is sort of the everyman apartment type: three stories, tiny footprint, as far as the eye can see

The South Bay Area was apricot and cherry orchards as far as the eye could see…as a child. By late high school it was freeways and townhouses. It was so lovely for a short spell of my life.
