I'm trying to imagine how much I'd have to hate my baby to name it Gunther. It must be a family name. Like it's a family tradition to hate their children so much that in burns hate into the bones at a cellular level so he hates people who do him no harm and mocks those who only want justice for all.

allegations of quid pro quo have spiked during Trump's second term-especially as he actively solicits and accepts gifts out in the open in what experts say is a break from presidential tradition. Increasing scrutiny on the White House

If it's possible we may make this an October tradition and do it next year as well. Here's a link to the game as it's free to play and only available in October: adamgryu.itch.io/pumpkin-carver

Great context of where the tradition roots Vance wants to claim, don't ring true to him. Per @andybeshearky.bsky.social , he ain't from here
Religion aside: Vice President Vance claims Scotch-Irish ancestry.
The Scotch-Irish, particularly in Appalachia, were known for their vehement opposition to monarchy and centralized power in general.
Most were Presbyterian, a tradition with a democratic, committee-based polity devoid of bishops.

It is a scandal totally unprecedented in history that the Vice President has shared a video depicting the President as king. It’s an obscene violation of every founding American principle.
And nothing will come of it. It makes me physically sick.

it takes republicans, the ones who love law and order and the constitution 😅 to point out how our system is basically a swiss cheese held together be tradition and decency. it seems the founding fathers never saw them coming (or being voted for)

More relevant to this situation though, fedi culture has a strong tradition of defederating instances run by fascists or instances that are okay with hosting fascists. That works great for Gab or spinster, but it's challenging with big instances that have some fascists but mostly okay people.

It’s all biology. If it weren’t for two thousand years of the Christian tradition we wouldn’t think of pretending otherwise…Romance is the true opiate of the masses.

Reject modernity. Embrace tradition.
While everyone’s playing Z-A, I’m gonna attempt a Zigzagoon-only run (to the extent possible) in my favorite Pokemon game ever💙

Past fascisms have relied on distinct national traditions.
The Nazis' political repression (and stylish uniforms) drew on the Prussian militarist tradition.
Franco's Spain was hyper-Catholic because Spanish conservatism was already hyper-Catholic.
Portugal's Estado Novo embraced colonialism.

Truth that in English is easiest to make it, however, while English allows for compact phrasing, the essence of haiku (as shaped by Japanese tradition) isn't just about fitting words into syllables. It's about conveying depth through simplicity.
