We lost a lot of real ones this year, but none more real than the master of unreality himself, David Lynch. Rest in peace king.

Here the Zen teacher Thich Nhat Hanh reflects on our condition of contemporary rootlessnes. It reminds me at least of the strange unreality of much of what we call "politics". We attend to numbers & quantity, the future, not the present, & forget about deep abiding human needs like care & belonging.

But like you get what I mean right? The one person still decorating for christmas had to be the guy who uses the unreality machine. Hes not depressed because he literally doesnt know whats real anymore.

Parallel development. Doesn't have to be a Jesus Who.

Christmas is just their word for a gathering during the darkest month of the year.

Before you object, they are canonically all living on a snowflake. So factor the unreality of that magic into it.

Here @dennycarter.bsky.social echoes what everyone knows is true but none of the rich Dem donors want to hear it.

they always involve twisting perception into unreality. ³Actions that stem from distortions are literally the reactions of those who know not what they do. ⁴Fantasy is an attempt to control reality according to false needs. ⁵Twist reality in any way and you are perceiving destructively. ⁶Fantasies

They got high on their own supply.

Who can forget their adoption of gibbering unreality after the referendum and the uncaging of all the backbench loons who subsequently made the Tory Party their creature?

Unreality cooled reality’s burn.

Instead of the Civil War ask them what caused the "War Between the States". While living in TX (and other places) I heard a whole unreality about the war where it wasn't about slavery but about state's rights. I usually get a conversation going when I call the Confederate flag the "flag of treason"

I realized as a kid that most people in the USA don't know what war looks like. It's always "somewhere else" so it's got some unreality to it. I figure it's part of why 9/11 shocked so many. I don't know how this admin goes on without more of us learning what the consequences look like right here

Or are both possibilities true yet false at the same time until a choice is made, one being chosen as the other is regarded as "unreal".

Does everything float in a Schrodinger's Cat style of quasi-existance and semi-unreality until observed? Or has it always existed in both states at once?

Heh. I noticed also an American envoy felt compelled to say in writing how much the Russian government values American efforts for peace.

I’ve seen less unreality in some negotiations for peace in the Mideast.

The parallel fascist state and its machinery of unreality and inversion is rapidly becoming the actual state.

This is why some of us on the counter authoritarian side of academia have been so clear in our analysis of the intentionally maligned social reproduction taking place at cultural nodes.

Even ignoring the abject awfulness I just can’t get over the idea of being content to exist in an unreality

Whelp it was fun that people believed that the fascists would not have enough capital to complete their state capture and consolidation of the entire rightwing unreality state.

Anyways the billionaire fascists just personally guarantee an amount larger than nepals gdp for the sale

There are two issues with religion. One is that it is not correct. The unreality of it prevents humans from properly engaging with reality. The other is that societal religion was invented as a tool to oppress. From the God Kings of the ancient past to the Christianity of Rome.

"He seemed to have forgotten all that he had gone through. A dim sense of having taken part in some strange tragedy came to him once or twice, but there was the unreality of a dream about it."
