I’ve seen small and new devs scared to show unfinished games because they might “spoil them.” If your audience is just your friends, then that might be true. But don’t you want your player base to be somewhat larger than that?

Indie Dev Tip of the Day: playtesting isn't just about finding bugs. You don't know if your game is good until many people have ratified it. Until it consistently lands for large numbers of your testers - and don't forget to include new ones every time.

UI/UX takeaway of the day, if you have proper icon design you shouldnt need text as the icons should be self explanatory. The worst part is, VRC did their job PROPERLY here and is actually using self descriptive icons for all of these except for groups, avatars and worlds. Also the gap is criminal

One of my biggest streaming services UI/UX pet peeves: not being able to tell what thing is selected. This isn’t complicated. Give it an outline. Show me an arrow. Something other than it being 3% larger than the other windows.

I have supported my partner with my UI/UX salary in the past! But in this time of brutal games industry layoffs and project cancellations, he's currently my safety net thanks to his job as a Sr Gameplay Engineer, while I've been underemployed working freelance contracts and unable to find FT work.
If you’re a working artist talking to other creatives I’m begging you to not hide this. I have a parter who makes more and I don’t hide that and try to be as open as I can especially one on one. It’s cruel to not be honest with your fellow artist and give them any kind of false hope or fear
Many full time creatives have “invisible safety nets” like bread-winning partners, trust funds, external support, etc. No shame on anyone, but it creates a false vision of success. The cost of going to cons alone on top of hoping to eat as a freelancer are untenable, IMO.
