The issue with vegansim is that plant eating itself is destructive. If we view the lives of bugs to be equally valuable as humans, we kill millions when we plow a field.

This reads as the fetishistic Edenization of pre-Columbian Western Hemisphere Cultures. It would be useful to counteract that feeling if one provided just one (1) Indigenous nation that tended towards vegansim. But I'm guessing that would be very difficult to find.

Debate needs to be balanced, surely? I can't imagine Farage, or anyone who would be remotely interested in speaking to him, having a balanced view about the ethics of vegansim. Or anything else.

3/ This has nothing to do with colonialism. Vegansim does rely on a specific historical context, but that context is the realty in which most of us currently live. Why do we need to look to history, other than to justify not moving forward together? Appealing to tradition and history is problematic.

In all my years as a vegan, & until joining here, I can't think of a single conversation I've had with indigenous people. Not intentional, just hasn't happened. But i've talked about vegansim with people of many races & religions. But the overwhelming majority of my vegan chats have been with whites
