This exercise explores the development of tubular structures in Adobe Illustrator using isometric projection. The image features three versions of the same chair, each with a different tube thickness. The first, with the thinnest tubing, closely resembles the original design. The second and third progressively increase the tube gauge, making the structure appear heavier. Together, they visually mimic the weight variations of a typeface: Regular, Medium, and Bold, adding a touch of humor to the study of form and structure. Part of my studio with a painting lmost finished... during the period of progress the paper was turned upside-down so the original crayon guide marks (lower image) don't correspond to the artwork's final composition.

A similar image to the first but taken about one week later with the pinned artwork nearing completion. During the creative painting process it has been turned upside-down and now shows very abstract brush-strokes of reds, blues and white on the original black background primer… the visual impression or interpretation being of a volcano erupting, of flames gushing from a vent perhaps with blue water and white steam.

Reading a documentary history of the Bauhaus reminded me how exhilarating I can sometimes find modernist design.
