everything's fine. they're good, honestly. I mean, there's the "doomed to die at the hand of god" thing and the "guilt over her death that'll hound her until she dies" thing, not to mention the assured long-term effects on her body. But besides that. They're good.

"Louetta “Lou” Primrose, a delivery rider from the Wasteland’s postal service who was suffering from a broken heart, agreed to go off-route and deliver a package all the way out to the coast. Not only is the address unusual, but so is the package: a beautiful, redheaded singer named Holliday Bell who wants to be reunited with her wife. On the road, a case of mistaken identity sees Lou brutalized and disabled by Artie, an assassin disciple from the church of Johnny Knives, the god of death, To atone for the harm, Artie vows to serve Lou on bended knee until she’s healed. At first, Lou fears and hates the intense and unstable disciple that she just can’t seem to shake, but on their long and dangerous journey, she starts to develop feelings for her. Unfortunately, Artie is confident that she will be put to death by her god/boss for hurting Lou, a complete innocent. Lou, who is already unusually skeptical of the gods, finds it all completely unjust and incomprehensible. Lou’s health deteriorates terribly on their long trip to the coast, and even when they unexpectedly actually find Holliday’s wife and her welcoming family, Lou gets sicker and sicker. Despite eating and resting, she is wasting away. One night, after Artie lays her down to sleep, she dies. Despite Lou's lack of faith, the god of life comes to her personally and revives her.

Lou, nude and petite with a serious farmer's tan, making out with a thick gothic baddie, Beatrice, one of the nuns at the psychic gas leak convent they stopped at on the trail. Beatrice is canonically the smartest named character in the story. Just, fyi.
