Weird Web October 10/28/25 - Tables

For the spell prompt I knew almost immediately what I wanted to do. It’s spooky times and one of my favorite horror comedies is Army of Darkness. Binary is considered to be such a universal language it was used to communicate how to play the golden records on the Voyager spacecraft. Inspired by this fact my entry converts binary into unicode. Looking through some other submissions for Weird Web October 2025 for the third week. These aren’t the best or meant to put them above any others. They’re just the ones that stuck out to me at the time. Unicode - Day 15 Simple but I like it anyway. What character are you? Transition - Day 16 Really like these line transitions. Winter is coming. Illumination - Day 17 Simple bit of light. I like The Magnetic Fields and I don’t know if I’ve heard 100,000 Fireflies before. Trading - Day 18 Interesting demonstration of the yard-sale model. Bounce - Day 19 Just a classic dvd screen. A lot like what I made but with pizza and all the flashing sky. Hidden - Day 20 Enjoyed the red lens glasses and the hidden messages. They’re just the ones that stuck out to me at the time. Containers - Day 8 Drag and drop webpage containers. I ended up putting everything into rain boi. I put a div in your div so you can div while you div. After a bit of chomping a winner is me! Blink - Day 9 I thought of doing something like this for mine and I’m glad the weeping angels were included here. I like the design pattern that this creates quite a bit. There were a couple with cats today but this had the most pictures of cats. Warning - Day 10 I struggled with warning and I think others did as well. I do think this is compelling though. Camera - Day 11 I’m not on calls all day but this stressed me out as if I was. Okay this I think is my favorite for camera just a fun implementation of the camera. Battle - Day 12 This was fun to see too armies fight and I think I’m going to dig into what was done here. I’m still terrible at battleship. Upside-down - Day 13 I agree. Yikes. I like how this one turned out. Made a dedicated page with some information from Wikipedia about the women featured in the book turned movie Hidden Figures. Additionally added some generated stars and rockets for fun. I don’t really like saying in each of these posts that I didn’t have many ideas but that does seem to be a trend. I think part of these prompts is that tension you feel when you have to make something of a prompt that you don’t have anything. I just wanted to create a ball that bounced around the screen but that was a bit boring so I added a tail. I had some other ideas but I don’t have the skills to make them happen so you can just imagine what that would have looked like. So here is my entry for the bounce prompt as part of the weird web october 2025 Listening to: Hozier - Take Me to Church This is day 19 of #WeirdWebOctober2025.

The first thing that came to mind for this prompt was a neal.fun game about trading on the stock market. I believe it appears in both stimulation-clicker and not-a-robot. Next, and ultimately what I went with I thought of the One red paperclip story. This is a true story of Kyle MacDonald who over a series of trades turned his red paperclip into a house. For my game you start with a paperclip and try to repeat his feat of getting your way to a house. For this one I knew immediately after reading the prompt that I wanted some text to be hidden until it was hovered over by the cursor and lit as if by a candle. The text is a poem called illumination that I found on The Poetry Foundation. Played a little with transitions for the maps prompt so I wanted to see what else could be done there. Threw a bunch of animations together for this one and then started doubling up to see how they turned out. This was a bit of a struggle as well as far as ideas go. It happens. It will take some time but this example will go through the entire set of unicode characters. It’s kinda boring but it is doing something different anyway. I didn’t have a strong reaction to the doubles prompt. The first thing came to mind was doubles in tennis. The closest web approximation for me was pong so now you can a friend can play pong together. Unfortunately the computer only gets one paddle. For this challenge I wanted to create a game that simulated a battle if even a simplistic one. I’m pretty happy with the basic setup of this one. I think there could be something fun if explored further. So here is my entry for the upside-down prompt as part of the weird web october 2025 Listening to: The Fearless Flyers - Ace of Aces This is day 12 of #WeirdWebOctober2025.
