The finest wines don't age *this* well.
The credulousness of this site towards Graham Platner is pretty hard to take.

There’s an advert interrupting my podcast listening at the moment which is odd not only for being for Bordeaux wines, which are, I believe, somewhat famous already, but also for ending with the the injunction “Drink responsible”.

The people responsibly for this should be fired.

He's one of my favourite things about the cast commentaries on the LOTR DVDs. Hobbits: and then we fell out of a boat! Legolas: I look so deep here [dim, elf, you look *dim*]. John Rhys Davies: yacht, Julie Christie, fine wines. Lee: As Tolkein told me in a letter in 1968...

Tasted through a rather eclectic range of rancio wines from the Roussillon yesterday, then some oddball digestivi, including a hay scented liqueur from Trentino.

Given that Wayne Gretzky’s wines should be infra dig for any self-respecting Canadian on both political and oenological grounds, it’s refreshing to see this development (from the usually excellent Tawse winery)

He's doing this as he wines and dines billionaire donors from Palantir and Lockheed Martin btw
Trump shows off his models to his wealthy donors:

"So that's Lady Liberty. Lady, did you ever hear of Lady Liberty? But, uh, so the sizes would be very different than this lady. They did this and they did that. So this would be... small, medium, and large."

I've been wondering about this, too. There are alcohol-free wines, liquors, etc. and beverages that aren't even actually made for the purpose of imitating alcohol but can look like alcohol that one could put in a wine glass or other various glasses that traditionally hold their respective cocktails

TIL part of the job of the town crier in medieval times was to sample all of the expensive wines being served at taverns and testify whether it was fake/diluted or not

Sadly I was too late for the Banderas wedding 😶, but frankly the parcel selection wines grom Abadia Retuerta were much more interesting. Right next to Ribera del Douro, this immense estate has its very own DO.

Llewelyn’s, London, Herne Hill

'It’s seasonal British food with an extensive wine list – not just natural wines, which I think everyone's got a bit carried away with, but also classic, good, aged wines'

Russian retail sales of wine decreased again in September with demand for still wines being down 2,2% compared to 2024 and by 4,3% for sparkling wines. This is due to the decrease in imports from "unfriendly" countries due to high duties.

Many of the exceptional European wines grow near volcanoes and get their resistance from the ash. Vines on the slopes of Mt Etna dodged it all thanks to the silica sealing the soil too tightly for phylloxera to enter after rainfall

thanks Norton grapes! I'm sorry I described the taste of your wines as "kinda ketchup-like"!
we still have wine from europe these days because american grape vines are resistant, and so they cut the roots off american grape vines and plant those and graft european grape vines to the american roots. this has been the vast majority of all grapes grown in europe for a hundred years. wild
