Mamdani brought up Wittgenstein but Sliwa schooled him when he accurately called that he only knew of him via David Foster Wallace’s gross simplification of his ideas in his early fiction, and seemed unable to discuss how his philosophy evolved between the Tractatus and Philosophical Investigations

Interpretive ability often dissociates from capacity to develop theories. See Fodor on Hume, Kripke on Wittgenstein, Sartre on Heidegger.

Very sad to read that Nabil Shaban has died. A formidable activist and creative in all manner of ways. During a wideranging interview in 2016, I told him he was the very last person filmed by Derek Jarman while he still possessed sight. He didn't know and it moved him greatly.

Everyone else wore very niche in-joke costumes like, cover of random indie-punk album or Wittgenstein. No one got my costume and after a while I just started saying I was a purple alien.
