he & his wife, Russian ballet dancer Lydia Lopokova, had Wittgenstein over & she made the mistake of saying a tree was beautiful & he said "what do you mean" in such a way as to make her cry & people tell this story to demonstrate his brilliance & not that even his friends often couldn't stand him
research prompted by this meme is how I, a former Econ minor, learned Keynes was a) bisexual an b) genuinely would have loved grindr based on the number of dudes he hooked up with who are specifically listed in his Wikipedia page (good for him!)

Very sad to read that Nabil Shaban has died. A formidable activist and creative in all manner of ways. During a wideranging interview in 2016, I told him he was the very last person filmed by Derek Jarman while he still possessed sight. He didn't know and it moved him greatly.

I once went in on a costume as Fear from Inside Out...not realizing it was an alt-kids type of party. Everyone else wore very niche in-joke costumes like, cover of random indie-punk album or Wittgenstein. No one got my costume and after a while I just started saying I was a purple alien.

RIP Nabil Shaban, Jordanian-British actor and iconic performer with disability. Founded the Graeae disability theatre company. Appeared in City of Joy, Wittgenstein, and Children of Men. Famously played the capitalist alien banker Sil in Doctor Who.

At training today hosted by the Bar of Ireland - I never realised the Ashling Hotel has a plaque noting the whole 7 months that Wittgenstein lived and worked in that building.
