That is not to say there are not some small, selfish benefits for me, to be certain–I would no longer face the dilemma of courting noble ladies, for example, and there is an appeal in having such a capable friend at my side amidst all this change.

If you seek some manner of sense in my words, I am afraid I can offer none; indeed, this may be for naught but for personal satisfaction… Though I would make this offer all the same. Final fantasy fan comic after the events of the Final Steps of Faith. Artoirel is resting after the fight, and his hands are bandaged. He is approached by Cessalie (player character).

"Oh, Mistress Sombreterre," he says, as he realises she is there.
"Don't think I didn't notice those hands," she replies. "Let me see."
He turns up his palms, now unbandaged. They are red and raw.
"Ah, I see." Cessalie says. "I never took to conjury, but I should have some poultices that ought to soothe these burns. Just a moment..."

Shortly after, we see Cessalie's hands massaging a balm into Artoirel's palm.
"You are too kind, Mistress Sombreterre," he says.
"Hardly. And just Cessalie is fine." she replies.
Artoirel pauses for a moment, then echoes her. "... Cessalie."
She looks away for a moment, bashful. "Better?" She says.
Artoirel pauses again. "... Very much so." he replies.
