About twenty minutes later, Silva finally calmed the thundering of her heart enough to remove the silk robe and what smalls she originally decided to wear. With great care, she put on the new lingerie instead. The soft fabric tickled her skin and scales at first, but she quickly became accustomed to it and enjoyed how breathable the material was. (A trait Silva knew she would appreciate much later in the evening.) She felt beautiful in it. Powerful and confident. She loved how butterflies fluttered in her stomach when she got a good look at herself in the mirror. How it made her ivory scales appear brighter. The intimate wear was a little different from what she'd worn in the past, but she didn't mind trying something new. She couldn't wait to see how her lovers would react. There was no way in the seven hells Ricmorn and Hien wouldn't be able to keep their hands off her when they returned to her apartment later tonight. Their reactions would be priceless. She smiled, giggling as a thrill of desire cut through her at the thought. Silva was worried at first that she would have to change dresses to make sure it covered everything underneath. It wouldn't have been the first time. Thankfully, the one she picked did the job. Mostly. If anything, she would have to be careful with the long slit in the skirt on the right side — should she turn incorrectly or too fast, the other partygoers might catch a glimpse of how her smalls had no fabric covering her backside. A fact she now realized was probably intentional. The Auri woman couldn't help but laugh and shake her head when she put the pieces together. Bastard— If Hien was trying to fluster her to the point of wanting to hide by the end of the night, he was doing an excellent job so far. And she hadn't even seen him or Ricmorn yet! She needed to stay calm. She needed to remember to breathe and steady herself. The dancer took in a slightly shaky breath, looking at herself in the floor-length mirror. One small hand reached up to touch the linkpearl in her horn, and the other trailed fingertips over the lacy choker around her neck. Her pulse jumped against the digits. Thump. Thump. Thump. She found the switch on her linkpearl and held it for seven clicks. When she lifted her finger and activated a call on a secure, private channel, she closed her eyes, counting the seconds in her head as she listened to the chime. On the third cycle, the sound of an amused chuckle echoed in her horns. "[Yes?]" Silva forced herself to swallow past the invisible lump in her throat before speaking. "[I expected such a thing coming from that dear husband of mine, but from you, my heart? I must admit that I'm a little shocked,]" she breathed. "[A-a good kind of shock, of course, but… Seven fucking hells, Hien.]" "[Ah, so you received my gift then, Wildflower?]" She could imagine the twinkle in his peridot eyes without seeing him in person. "[Good, very good!]" Gods, he had no right to sound like temptation. The deep timbre of his voice, each word leaving his lips holding a hint of desire in each syllable, made blood rush loudly in her ivory horns. Unfair. So fucking unfair. "[I must admit. I was worried there for a moment,]" Hien said. She heard the rustling of clothing in the small stretch of silence. Oh— strange. Was he still getting ready for the gala tonight? "[Worried that the carrier may have delivered the package to the wrong destination or mistook it for something valuable and ran off with it. I had it picked up, so they didn't know it was from me, you see. I'm glad to be proven wrong.]" "[No— Heavens no!]" she laughed. Her fingers played with the large sapphire pendant hanging in the middle of the choker around her throat when he laughed with her. "[Thank gods and kami for that. Could you imagine them returning home with it and discovering the contents inside? I wonder how red their face would have been.]" "[Indeed. But I'm sure the blush staining your face when you opened it couldn't even compare, my dear.]" "[I—]" The rest of her sentence turned to dust on her tongue. "[There's only one reason it took so long for you to call. Did you need a minute or two to settle that fluttering heart of yours as you gazed upon the lingerie? To ponder the question asked of you?]" Silva gasped. "[Hien Rijin—]"
