Zdzisław Beksiński claimed that he didn't know of any hidden meanings behind his work. Neither was he interested in any interpretations of his work. He has stated that, 'I don't want to say or convey anything. I just paint what comes to mind.'

Zdzisław Beksiński called his obsessive-compulsive disorder, his 'neurotic diarrhea,' and it interfered with traveling. He was modest and kinda shy and avoided public events, including his own shows.

Zdzisław Beksiński said that music was his inspiration. He was not influenced by literature, media, or even other artists. Going to museums or other exhibitions was not something he did regularly.
