Jane Goodall is the reason I became a #wildlife ecologist and then went on to study our interactions with nature. She was inspirational and a trail blazing #womaninscience.
In a world full of optics, her quiet leadership, authenticity, and compassion continue to be aspirational.

However, a long day teaching meant I missed out on my Schools Annual 'Soup Day'. I work with the best people. They saved me some yummy Laksa, and someone left me yeast flakes in my office and another team member a lovely post it note while I was gone.

Learnt the history of the building and some amazing pictures taken by students.
Absolutely loved my "thank you for teaching" penguin fridge magnet!

Doing #science on a beautiful campus, with a wonderful team. I crossed the divide (Sullivan's Creek) to teach postgraduate #environmental science students about #climate change #adaptation for #health. The beautiful Forestry building @anufennerschool.bsky.social (1/3)

Grace is an amazing biostatician and a wonderful colleague.

Celebrating these amazing #science communicators. From fungi to gonorrhoea and building energy storage systems, their ability to communicate complex concepts was remarkable.

Evidence continues to show that implementation of the Montreal Protocol and its Amendments has mitigated the deleterious effects of high levels of UV radiation and global warming for both #environmental and human #health.

Structural, foundational support will give them the security to be the creative powerhouses we need to protect our #planet and #communities

Our young people are inspirational, and they deserve long term investments in their future.

One message from two weeks of grant review and award selection panels culminating with the ACT roundtable on #gender, #climate, and #environmental justice (1/3)

Cold Friday afternoons working from home with our #Science buddies, old cozy jumpers, and socks.
Zoe, Skye and the blissfully asleep Soot.
Erin's Langley- a sleepy queen, moulting around the eyes, and my nowhere near asleep, extremely chatty, officemate

Zoe and Erin at #PHAA2025. Zoe's PhD is looking at #community #resilience and Erin, a senior Research Fellow presented on how AI-driven analysis can help us make sense of the high volume of social media content to support preventative #health policy and governance

Rocio defended her #PhD thesis proposal. She will be modelling changes in #llanduse and #climate and their implications for disease spread

We have Steph, who has been with us for 2 years as a Research Associate, and just been awarded a Westpac Scholarship to do her Masters continuing her work in the NT.

Celebrating some of the best and brightest in #Science. Their collaboration, kindness and support make it an awesome team, doing brilliant work. Structural support will play an important role in building their careers (1/4)

Saving habitats protects entire ecosystems. Fieldwork observing monkeys led to an encounter with the now elusive tusker at the foothills of the Himalayas.
I am looking forward to inspired #intergenerational thinking on how to protect the #environment and #health at the Schools Climate Conference

I also celebrate my very awesome maternal grandmother who brought me up for the first few years. As a result, I didn't know English when I started school and my dad taught me every evening (by candle light!) using the ENTIRE Oxford dictionary. He said 'Education was Freedom'. They were magic.

This #IWD, I celebrate my family in Myanmar. My dad has five sisters. In its most terrifying form, violence is always brutal. But it is also debilitatingly slow, with the delayed destruction of dreams and futures. My aunts’ strength, resilience and unwavering calm have been a powerful lesson for me

Erin (who draws us all!): Feeling grateful for all my amazing colleagues this #IWD. So much to learn from these women! Too many to name and honour in one post, so let’s settle with a portrait of the research team from our paper (coming soon) on Culturally aware climate adaptation strategies.

Zoe: Progress isn’t just built by those in the spotlight—it’s driven by the mentors, colleagues, friends, and family members who encourage and empower others. Let’s take a moment to thank and celebrate them today!

Zoe: I’m fortunate to be surrounded by inspiring women—both in my personal and professional life—who challenge me to grow, support my ambitions, and inspire me to uplift others in the same way.

The day I lost my tiny pencil on a giant clam and we spent two hours trying to retrieve it without disturbing the clam. My boat driver was very unimpressed with me!

Fieldwork fun. 7 months on a coral lagoon diving everyday to follow Green turtles for Science. 8 Hours a day on the reef, and fresh Tuna and coconut water for lunch and dinner... every single day. Simple joys.

We sent Erin off to have some academic fun and talk about variable selection when information is conflicting. The Confidence profile method is a useful starting point to think through decision making with good Bayesian compatibility for #climate and #health work. She even managed some Pokemon Go!
