There’s no secrecy, but it is an explicitly interdisciplinary edited collection that as noted before deals with the various intersections of music and literature, along the axis of class. Thanks for your interest!
lindakhughes.bsky.social
Hi Kate,

It isn’t all about women composers. Rather it is a set of interdisciplinary, essays about music, literature, and class.
lindakhughes.bsky.social
Thank you, Kate and I will keep an eye on what you are up to. And if and when our edited collection gets accepted, I’ll be sure to send you a copy of my essay on Lehman . Her In Memoriam setting is utterly brilliant.
lindakhughes.bsky.social
Can you share your recent publications on Lehmann? I have written an essay on her setting of In Memoriam in a collection under consideration for publication. I have of course read Sophie Fuller on this composer, but would enjoy knowing what else you have done. The Dowie connection is fascinating.

Today is the 61st anniversary of the assassination of John F Kennedy. May we get back to visions of social justice that prevailed during his election that Doris Kearns Goodwin details so beautifully in her latest book.

I have finished only one chapter, on Levy‘s contributions to the Jewish Chronicle in the context of other contributors and secular Jewish writers, such as Helen Zimmerman and Israel Zangwill. On to the Newnham chp next. (As you can see, I am still trying to get the hang of short statements!)

Here’s more on my profile:
Now working on a hybrid cultural and personal biography of Amy Levy that will thicken her biography by looking at her in the context of others who shared her experiences and conditions.

Have just started reading Harriet Constable’s The Instrumentalist and am loving it.

I tend to be more of a lurker and listener than a frequent poster but didn’t like the idea of losing touch with the people (and you know who you are) l like and admire so much. I look forward to hearing more from those I’m following!
