Last year, the world added a record 582GW of renewable energy capacity. That’s over 91% of all new power – with #nuclear nowhere. In fact, each year, nuclear adds as much net global power capacity as #renewables add every two days.

A ‘Golden Age’ of nuclear? | New Civil Engineer
The reason is simple. Nuclear costs are huge and rising and significant delays are the norm. The result is that nuclear power faces the same fundamental

Not so efficient ...
'#EDF EPR #nuclear limited power output until 2031.'
The reason: 'Reduced efficiency of the Normandy reactor, leading to a curtailment of its electricity production.'

Prof Jan Rosenow: Primary Energy Fallacy is the idea that all primary #energy from #FossilFuels must be replaced with equivalent #RenewableEnergy BUT not so - as conversion losses don't need to be replaced. More than 2/3 of all primary energy is lost as waste heat.

Eliminating CO2 emissions from flying is going to be expensive.
Aviation also contributes to global warming through “contrails”.
Getting rid of those so cheap that it’s difficult to understand why we don’t just go ahead and fix it.

Eliminating contrails from flying could be incredibly cheap
Could we halve aviation's climate impact at a fraction of the cost of sustainable aviation fuels?

Sunlight is the most abundant energy source on earth.
New generation of #solar panels use a class of materials called perovskites - thinner, lighter, less rigid and generate more power.
