Wondering if anyone out there can point me towards an Economic Historian who would support a "more rational" version of the current tariff policy.

Privileged to have the amazing Lisa Cook from the Board of Governors at Pitt today for the annual McKay lecture.

Great seminar today by @robgillezeau.bsky.social presenting early work co-authored w/ Jeff Chan and Azim Essaji. They use new data on all pre-20th century US land cessions and focus on the introduction of railroads and indigenous land disposession.

My heart is in Wisconsin today, my home state, a land that — as a queer kid growing up there in the 80s — terrorized and disappointed me more times than I can tell you, but, still, made me who I am, and still, I have hope that my fellow Wisconsinites will do the right thing in the voting booth today

There really important off cycle elections tomorrow in Wisconsin (state Supreme court) and Florida (2 open congressional races). If you have friends in those states, consider nudging them to vote.

Great fundamental play by the Marlins...or a mistake by the Pirates 3rd base coach. Pirates announcers are killing me. Day 3 and I have already been reduced to sitting in the corner and mumbling incoherently.

I'm starting to think that it could be hard for the Pirates to score if they don't get any hits.

10 minutes to the start of MLB 2025. Please consider all of the little things you can do to support any Pirates fans in your life. Even if we don't show it, we are silently screaming our rage at Bob Nutting on the inside.
