This perspective invites us to rethink how we measure and appreciate the impact of individuals with deep contextual knowledge, fostering a richer dialogue about equity and #power in the #DevelopmentSector. Thoughts on this evolving conversation are welcome!

New open access paper introduces the concept of "development brut," which challenges traditional notions of development by recognising the valuable contributions of those working outside the formal development industry. www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.... #DevelopmentStudies #GlobalDev

Our research had a particular focus on people who are commonly excluded from research - such as those with complex impairments (such as #deafblindness) as well as women. #LNOB #Inclusion

Our new paper on mobility experiences of people with disabilities in #Bangladesh is out! Using #ParticipatoryMethods we uncovered various factors influencing their inclusion/exclusion framed within a time #geography context. We invite you to read & share your thoughts! www.bezev.de/en/institute...

The knowledge and skills of each researcher, the enthusiasm of the group, and their sense of solidarity has filled me with hope for the future. It will be exciting to see what comes next! #Arts #Humanities #Skills

From the early days of getting to know each other, to forming a peer support group, culminating with a face-to-face workshop co-hosted by colleagues at #StellenboschUniversity. This has been a real highlight of the last few years for me. #DisabilityInclusion #ResearchSkills

For the #AHRC funded Disability Inclusive Development Networks project I've been working with a cohort of early career researchers involved in disability-inclusive arts and humanities research. This report details the journey so far:

I love Peter's conclusion - he signs off with "The next GDS will be hosted by Qatar in 2028. I wonder who'll be there." Maybe we can revisit this in a few years and get a pulse of how people feel?

I really enjoyed catching up with old friends, meeting people that I had interacted with virtually but never met, and meeting some new people too. The solidarity felt real. However, the concern over issues such as funding, changing legislation and continuing exclusion was palpable from all corners.

For me as an ally to the movement, I felt privileged to be there and to listen rather than talk. Some sessions (e.g. the Youth Leadership side event) gave me a tremendous sense of hope. Others (e.g. the high level opening) felt more about celebrity (Head of State) spotting than anything else.

One of my highlights of the #GDS2025 was meeting @desibility.bsky.social in person. His latest piece sums up the intensity of the Summit perfectly. For me the experience was a chaotic mixture of high level promise but grassroots concern about the future.

One of the most intense pieces of reporting I've done, on the Global Disability Summit 2025.

The promises, the corridor talk, the protests. The excessive control of governments, and who was left off the agenda. And what we need to do now.

Has anyone published in Cogent Arts and Humanities? Seems like a legit journal, but so far submission process has been questionable. Keen to hear if anyone else has experienced something similar.
