i want to become a type of person that would've made my past self uncomfortable"
yeah u
ur ears and paws :(
not that there's anyone this ISN'T true for, but
some more than others
seeing someone and thinking "dang, you would look so much better with a square profile picture...
it's funny how i can handle someone semi-consensually cutting my face with a knife, better than my own partner pointing a needle at me

"you're canadian this doesn't concern you at all" you forget that zohran also had the better fonts. a win for Graphic Design the world over
index is troublesome because it's ambiguous whether you mean the index /of/ something or the index /within/ something
e.g. "row index" (in the context of a 2d array) could mean x or y

by not engaging in discuorse i have been able to use 100% of my brain thinking about important things like whether i should use the word "index" or "id" or "number" in this documentation
i feel like, self-labels or metadata fields do need to be "owned" by some account, whose role is just to provide the list of label definitions.
to avoid name collisions and give you a place in the UI to actually choose your labels and display settings.
but like, selfLabels seems to be a kind of dead-end for this? because there's not a way to introduce new values without it going through The Committee.
hmm i really hope they come up with a general solution for self-applied labels (and not just hardcoding support for pronouns)
and i hope they can still be displayed on posts like they are now, because i think that part of the ui is good
so thats a lot easier to set up, i think
hm i guess to show up as a labeler here, you just need the app.bsky.labeler.service collection, not the actual atproto_labeler service url?
if you find yourself restyling checkboxes or radio buttons, or using weird selectors like ~ or :has()
think about if this is actually better than a few onclick event handlers
(hopefully this doesnt count as discourse)
don't be afraid to use a little javascript in your small website!
it's almost always better than "css-only" hacks, in terms of efficiency, compatibility, maintainability, accessibility
also i need to get an idea for how long it'll be before i'm able to do it by myself
relying on someone else indefinitely is burdensome and creates problems
well i say "routine" but tbh there are still horrific things that happen occasionally....
so it better actually be worth it
actually, really it's just, by now my partner has gotten good at it, it's become routine, and so she can help me
i mean, to be fair to my past self, it took like a year before i was able to even watch someone else use a needle near me
(if i feel noticeably better after a few weeks of this experiment, then i'll consider continuing)
really i shouldve done this sooner; i still doubt it'll work out, but it's not a commitment i can just switch back
we are trying injections now..

the "thะตy/thะตm-ing" discourse cycle makes me kinda uncomfortable tbh..
i agree with the actual premise, it's just
after a few days people start saying shit like โ€œif you're unsure about someone's gะตnder irl, you should Guess (but like, wokely) instead of using gะตnder-nะตutral languageโ€
