After spending 43 years in prison for a crime he didn't commit, evidence hidden by the prosecution reversed his conviction. Rather than finally enjoying freedom, ICE abducted him for deportation

Depraved.

Due to Tennessee’s abortion ban, Mayron Hollis was forced to continue a pregnancy that threatened her life. An emergency delivery left her without a uterus and her baby with medical issues.

This was their first year in a post-Roe state (pub. Feb. 2024):
She Was Denied an Abortion After Roe Fell. This Is a Year in Her Family’s Life.
Tennessee law prohibits women from having abortions in nearly all circumstances. But once the babies are here, the state provides little help. We followed one family as they struggled to make it.

“ICE kidnapped a community member here,” reads one. “Never forget/no nos olvidamos,” says another.

The signs have appeared across some of D.C.’s heavily immigrant neighborhoods where federal immigration arrests have escalated.
Signs popping up around D.C. note: ‘ICE kidnapping happened here’
The signs range in style and mark numerous locations where people have been taken by federal agents.

We need a Senator Emeritus role where they still get to go to events and feel important but that gives them a graceful retirement route

Also his wife left him a couple years ago. Her instagram used to be full of photos of her with another dude just beaming too, but all photos have been deleted from it recently.

Vought is a small, unhappy, hateful and anti-social person.

He is also evil: opposed to Jesus‘ teachings, and exactly what Jesus warned about in the Bible.

The first step in bringing Vought down is being honest about who he is.

Many people are asking me who will win the Nobel Prize in Economics on Monday. While I don’t know for sure, this year I think that it will be Satoshi Nakamoto, or Emmanuel Saez.

Social media probably also makes people more demanding and less patient about progress on complex issues because they’re constantly being inundated with commentary about how simple things are and how everything that’s wrong with America is because of people who are a little different from them.

Stuff like this is driven by anger and disgust and confusion and fear. Also ignorance and stupidity. It’s probably very gratifying in the moment to lash out like this. It’s more satisfying in the moment than the hard work of trying to understand a problem and figure out how to solve it.

Here’s an example. I can’t believe people are still raging about this. Or that this is how they’re doing it now. No one actually cares about youth sports or women’s sports. They care about bullying trans people. Which doesn’t make life better for anybody!

Activists strip to protest trans athletes at school board meeting
After a school board in Maine voted not to align policy with the Trump administration, community members began to undress in protest.

Just culture war bullshit. Culture war bullshit is about spectacle and emotions. Much of policy gets built around those imperatives. It’s impossible to have serious discourse about policy because too many people learn that policy is about owning the other instead of making our lives better.

The collapse of U.S hegemony is a good thing, we shouldn’t dictate the entire world, we shouldn’t have an overriding veto at the UN and everything the US has done internationally since the 50s has made the world objectively worse
