It also does the Ryukishi thing of starting off subtle and increasing the volume to 11, passing the subtext coward barrier and looking directly into the camera, but that does seem to be the only surefire thing that works.

After reading Yuureitou I was immediately struck but the manga takes some wild swings so I held my enthusiasm close to my chest because I didn't know if it was bad representation or not. But now I feel I can recommend it with a mostly clear conscience.
