October marks the start of the olive harvest in Palestine, a culturally significant and, usually, joyous occasion.

Israeli settlers - backed by soldiers - have stolen crops, cut down trees, attacked, and in some cases severely injured, Palestinian olive-pickers - *every day* this week.

I'm relieved, but whether the cease‑fire can hold in the long run hinges on Trump’s willingness to keep up long‑term pressure on Netanyahu. I’m not optimistic that he will.

In Israel, the Australia-Canada-UK recognition of Palestine is met with wall-to-wall condemnation, including all on the so-called liberal-Zionist left, and the Hostage Families Forum.

Good chance of Israel being suspended from the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) this week. This move would have devastating implications for Israeli football, and would be the most significant move of cultural sanction against Israel in decades.
