For many families, the Trump administration’s efforts to restrict birthright citizenship have turned what should've been the happiest moments — the birth of a new child — into a time of stress and uncertainty.

We won't back down from defending the 14th Amendment.

Next week, the Supreme Court will hear a case that could determine the future of the Voting Rights Act.

At stake in Louisiana v. Callais is Black voters’ ability to elect their candidates of choice in Louisiana, and all voters' ability to challenge racially discriminatory maps.
The Supreme Court Is Being Tested on History Once Again
The leading arguments in support of Black voting rights were race-conscious at their core.

Black people are far more likely to be sentenced to death than white people, especially if the victim is white.

Racism is embedded in the death penalty.

This World Against the Death Penalty Day and every other day of the year, we’re calling on our elected officials to work toward an end to capital punishment once and for all.

The government has executed more people in 2025 than any year in over a decade — and there are five more executions scheduled over the next week.

Just a handful of states are responsible for these executions, and they’re increasingly out of step with public opinion.

BREAKING: A federal judge has temporarily blocked President Trump from deploying federalized National Guard troops into Chicago.

This ruling reinforces what we already knew: It is illegal for the president to use manufactured emergencies to send soldiers into our cities.

All servicewomen serving in combat roles already have to meet stringent gender-neutral physical standards.

But Secretary Hegseth is intent on smearing those women as unqualified — and pushing all women out of military service.

The Supreme Court's decision in Louisiana v. Callais will not only determine the next steps for Louisiana’s congressional map, but could shape the future of redistricting cases nationwide.

No matter what, we'll continue fighting for fair representation.

Justice Sonia Sotomayor, born in the Bronx to Puerto Rican parents, has been a steadfast advocate for our civil liberties throughout her career.

She's issued powerful dissents in support of abortion rights, protecting the 14th Amendment, defending immigrant communities, and more.

Employees of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services oversee lawful immigration applications. They've never been authorized to make arrests, carry firearms, or execute search warrants — until now.

This intimidation tactic is unnecessary and cruel.

We're in court today challenging a Florida law that gives local law enforcement the power to arrest, detain, and prosecute people based only on how they entered the country.

This law has been blocked while our litigation plays out, and we're asking the court to affirm that decision.
