WIN: We sued the Batavia ICE federal detention center over the facility’s policy of permitting ICE officers to open confidential legal mail.

People trapped in immigration detention + their lawyers rely on written communications to relay deeply personal info. This is a critical First Amendment win.

Any plan to flood NYC’s subways with invasive cameras will waste millions of New Yorkers’ tax dollars, infringe on our privacy rights, and do nothing to actually make anyone safer.

To Kristi Noem and your ICE goons: Your agency is dangerous, cruel, inept, and lawless, and has no place on our streets. Nothing makes that clearer than the blood you shed in Minneapolis yesterday.

New York’s longstanding sanctuary laws have made our city safer - and we will fight to protect them.

Thank you @leaderasc.bsky.social for underlining the importance of advancing the New York for All Act to get our state out of Trump and ICE’s cruelty and protect our immigrant neighbors.

Damar Fields was alone in a park last month when Peekskill police arrived. He was tased, kicked, and punched by the police.

Yet despite the violent video footage and calls for accountability, the Westchester County has chosen not to charge the officers who beat up Fields. Peekskill deserves better.

NEXT WEEK: Join the coalition to protect Raise the Age at rally next Wednesday on the steps of New York City Hall.

Before Raise the Age was implemented in 2018, young people were tried as adults — and violence was higher. Today, youth crime is down, and opportunity is up.

We won't go back.

Solitary confinement is torture. Every day this executive order remains in effect puts the lives of incarcerated New Yorkers at risk.

We urge the mayor to take immediate action to implement the law and end solitary confinement in our city jails.

Trump has deployed thousands of military troops to American cities – and he’s threatened to send them to New York, too.

Troops in NY are unneeded and unwelcome. New York leaders must take all lawful measures to protect New Yorkers against the president’s attempts to send troops to invade our state:

If ICE arrives at your door, know your rights:

❗Do not open the door. Not even a little bit. Immigration officers can only enter your home if they have a warrant signed by a judge.

❗You have the right to remain silent.

❗Do not falsely claim to be a US citizen or to be lawfully in the US.
