Oh well, at least the internet leftists who couldn’t bring themselves to vote for Harris can sleep in peace knowing they accomplished their goal of keeping her out of office.

My wife has never followed baseball, and even she went “Wait – why is he coming back out?”

Who cares? They don’t speak for the church. He does.

“Warned” is not the right word. “Delusionally claimed” would be more accurate.

What’s really funny is that it's the studio arrangement from Henley's album, just with Hornsby's voice. Every time I hear the real version on the radio I get caught off-guard.
acmesalesrep.bsky.social
It’s weird, but in my head I can only hear that song in Hornsby's voice even though he never (AFAIK) released a studio version of it.

Somebody sounds desperate. Any university that goes along with this should lose all public funding.

The Democrats have nothing to do with it. What is wrong with you people?

Same colleague was complaining that other groups aren’t supporting him and that people he needs are assigned to other groups.

He’s the deputy department head overseeing said groups.

Oh, I think you underestimate them.
acmesalesrep.bsky.social
That’s exactly what you’re doing, yes. You just seem too dumb and/or arrogant to realize it.

TIL there are people who really really really really really care what other people write about instead of minding their own business and not making complete asses of themselves. LOL.

Colleague: We want to do some work over the weekend. Do you see a problem with that?
Me: There’s a football game at noon on Saturday that will make it very difficult to get here.
Colleague: Oh, I didn’t think of that…

Colleague is an alum who has spent his entire adult life on campus.

His name might be Lawrence but that man is a Larry. He even looks like the greatest Larry of them all, Larry Dallas.

My wife: Was he expecting a musical?
Me: No, that would be Waiting for Goddo.

TFW you paid $1400 to see Beckett’s most famous work without knowing anything about it
One Star Review of Waiting for Godot on Broadway
I recently attended Waiting for Godot on Broadway and spent over $1,400 for two Row C seats (103 and 104). I'm a longtime admirer of Broadway productions and even hold a season pass for Shea's Performing Arts Theatre, so I came in with genuine enthusiasm and high expectations. Unfortunately, this show was unlike anything ! have ever experienced —and not in a good way.
What I encountered was not the artistry, music, or emotional storytelling I usually associate with Broadway, but instead what felt like an endless cycle of nonsensical conversation between characters who seemed trapped in their own madness. I tried-truly tried-to find meaning, symbolism, or even a thread of emotional resonance. I stayed through the first half hoping the second would offer clarity. But by intermission, it was clear: this was a waste of both time and money.
Keanu Reeves is an actor I respect greatly, but I cannot fathom why he would agree to participate in such a disjointed, inaccessible production. His talent was lost in a performance that defied reason rather than provoked insight.
To anyone considering attending: unless you are drawn to highly abstract, nearly incomprehensible theater, I strongly caution you against this show. For the average, educated, thoughtful theatergoer, it is far more frustrating than fulfilling. In my opinion, this was the single most disappointing Broadway experience I've ever had - an unfortunate waste of money and, more importantly, of time.

So, not the people who actually live in New York.

American cities. Not “Democratic-led cities.” American cities.

Doctors shouldn't have to deal with multiple insurance companies, different coverage for different patients, unpredictable approvals, and so forth. It's a huge diversion of resources away from actual care to support multiple profit-taking bureaucracies.

I went where I did because I originally planned to be a teacher. It was my first-year physics prof who suggested I consider grad school, but he still thought a broad undergraduate education would provide a better base for that than focusing exclusively on one field. I haven't had any regrets.

(Also, my high school drama classes are the reason I can give a better talk than most of my colleagues.)
