LP I recall someone mentioning it would be good for devs to include the original version of a game with a remake like one of the Metroid games did.

LP and that rerelease allowed them time to insert scrapped concepts back into the game with the alt story path, so I was reminded of what some devs are doing with remakes where old ideas are being reinserted into those games (but essentially that can make them reimaginings)

Vengeance is such a unique case where the SMTV came out on Switch, devs took note of fan feedback and rereleased the game on all platforms years later with 50 different additions and an alternate story path thats considered better than the original. Not sure if a lot of games have done that

I like people who are fans of the surreal indie game scene, with many games intentionally being sparse about information, having bizarre visuals and atmosphere, letting the player figure things out on their own, environmental storytelling etc

LP Ive encountered more than a few times where fans come away from a Japanese game thinking there's barely any story (unless it was spoonfed to them in mountains of dialogue or cutscenes) and it turns out they just blinded many clues and visual details

When I watch JP YouTubers talk about language and history, they mention focus on "reading between the lines" when communicating with others. When it comes to a western audience experiencing a Japanese game, not being able to interpret things unless its directly shoved in your face is a problem

Even though Im not in love with F's combat sections (SH combat has always been troublesome) after beating it, it does borrow aspects from many SH games, even the scrapped PT/Silent Hills. I say that as someone who's played it since the PS1/PS2 era

I would ignore a lot of western fans these days. Its a problem with fandoms of many Japanese games. OG SH2 is very good and also has the Jacob's Ladder personal hell themes like F does. Its just that many supposed fans have either only played 2 or praise it so much they forget the rest of the series

LP Just to add one more thing to that, but speaking from experience, my partner of many years is a meaty hairy bearded manly man but loves cute(and cool) things. He's also used female avatars when given the choice in games, and I never questioned it. You like what you like.

LP Its kind of also why...every time I see a guy make a video where he has to defend wearing a cute avatar in VRC, I feel bad. You shouldnt have to make excuses about why you like cute or fem avatars (some will say oh, there's not enough good male avatars). Just be you and embrace what you like.

LP Seeing guys act cute, get into cute things and embrace fashion generally reserved for women puts me in a good mood. I mean, I like seeing anyone do that really even though its not something Id want for myself. I just like looking at other people get into it.
