The good news is they fucked around and now they’re finding out.
The bad news is we have to find out with them after we told them about HIM.

Trump is rigging maps to build a Congress that serves only him, not the people. @AOC knows the power to stop him is in California’s hands—Prop 50 is how we fight back and win. #YesOnProp50

Of course he lied. There would really be no place to put his humongous vanity project without taking out the East wing.
Breaking News: President Trump is having the White House’s entire East Wing demolished to make way for his $200 million ballroom. The project is far more extensive than he initially let on.

It’s far from the most important thing, morally right now, or in terms of the human stakes, but the ballroom thing is really breaking my brain.

To date, he's profited close to a billion dollars gifting, suing, and taking payments for Green cards and pardons, which includes the merchandise Bibles, sneakers, watches. Hats and tees and don't forget the Bidcoins being sold out of the WH!

Trump HATED the White House when he arrived in 2017. Just hated it.
A thing stuck in my brain: someone is going to claim, true or not, that this demolition was done in a way that it compromised the structure of the whole building, and they're going to tear it all down.

It's not like anyone's stopped them so far.

As a matter of current law, could the president just…knock down the entire White House? Just raze the whole thing to the ground?

NYT reporting on this story has been exceptional, but it’s worth considering how the framing might differ if a foreign nation or group was blowing up American boats with Americans a few miles off the Florida shore.

We say this ALL THE TIME, and I don't dispute it at all.

But the quip covers over a lot of the WHY.

WHY were right wingers able to exercise that power and Dems not. It's really NOT timidity (Dems, after all, have brought real impeachments.)
If Joe Biden had done this, he would already be impeached.

Not to exploit attention economy guy's comments, but this White House attack REALLY IS a visual that is flooring people, including dopes like Byron York.

And it'd be useful to think of all the ways to use it as an organizing/messaging platform, PARTICULARLY bc of timing, "Let them eat ballroom."

Bezos, the board, and Amazon management have zero shame and give zero fucks about their employees. Greed, profits, and expansion are their only motivators. Amazon workers must unionize or continue to get bulldozed and exploited.

look, one reason workplaces started making us all go to HR's "be polite to others" class is because you alienate people when you're a bigoted asshole, and that can lose you both talent and business www.ft.com/content/8e6d...

Can't a judge get a stop work order if plans and permits not in order? I'd rather have that hole sit there for the next 3 years to remind us what's at stake.

Yup. It's really the perfect metaphor for all his crimes:

Abuse of process
Open corruption
Destruction of the notion of "public"
Bad taste

All during a government shutdown necessitated by tax cut for some of the zillionaires who paid for the ball room.
Trump has done many many many many many things that are worse than this, but I bet this is one of the things that turns people.

Like millions of others around the world, I want to wake up one day very soon and not hear another ICE Human Rights atrocity, a Sycophant spewing indefensible nonsensical 💩, Miller having a public psychotic episode and Trump extorting money from another country or entity including the USA.

Todd Blanche has participated in trafficking of mostly innocent men to a concentration camp in Venezuela.

He ordered the kidnapping of Newark's Mayor, even after knowing Ras Baraka had not trespassed.

And he put an unlawfully appointed US Attorney before a grand jury.

That's what we know about.
Critical angle: Trump's accomplices are surely counting on pardons, which only makes them more beholden to him. Todd Blanche must think hard about saying "no" to Trump's demand for the $230 million.

Raskin and I discuss this here. It's something Dems could say more:
