Just under three years after the sudden death of former Japan international Masato Kudo, two of his clubs - Kashiwa Reysol and Sanfrecce Hiroshima - have reached the Levain Cup final, to be played November 1 at the National Stadium. #jleague

I truly hate that I don't have the discipline to go the e-newsletter route, while at the same time I'm too self-aware to think that anyone wants to listen/watch me via a podcast or YouTube or whatever. 140 characters at a time was perfect for J-sports degenerates.

Even #FCGifu can win 7 games in a row, I don't understand why Manchester United are having so much trouble hitting 5.

100% cosigned, as someone who can say that I would never have been able to build my career without Twitter.

This is an exact encapsulation of why I moved to Bluesky.

No amount of handwringing in the Atlantic about how I owe some eternal Promethean suffering to the discourse is going to make me stay on a site I hate, that stopped doing anything for me professionally years ago.
Well – no. Bluesky may or may not be, as one centre-right friend who felt unwelcome put it, “self-righteous island”. But the idea that’s why we went is nonsense. That I’ve largely stopped posting on a site that’s done more to shape my career and social circle than the rest of the internet combined is less about avoiding rival opinions (I love arguing with people who are wrong!) than with the fact the site simply became unusable. It stopped generating the things (good jokes, interesting debate, clicks) I wanted; it became extremely good at generating the things (racists, pornbots, racist pornbots) I did not.

Philly has the sports complex so you can absolutely see a Phillies game on a Sunday afternoon and then walk across the parking lot to a Flyers/Sixers game, or maybe the Eagles are on SNF. Occasionally during a playoff run all three venues will be in use on the same day.

I think a lot depends on how much cross-code promotion there is. Maybe more crossover in smaller cities/prefectures with stronger identities.

The J and B leagues have long had a close relationship; in fact the same team used to manage both of their social media presences because occasionally a B tweet would be published on the J account or vice versa.

The two will compete directly for the first time when J moves its calendar next year.

The #BLeague, Japan's pro 🏀 competition, has done a series of 'thank you' posters to celebrate its 10th anniversary.

This one is dedicated to the #JLeague "for always being an example" and passing its knowledge through former J chair and JFA prez Saburo Kawabuchi, who helped found the B.League.

Daizen Maeda out of the Japan squad with an injury, no replacement call-up.

Just saw an IG reel (foobooz) from today’s Scrapple carving contest at Reading Terminal Market. I think you all need to see it too.

Realized I had not updated my scarf collection album in like 3 years, and also that the ones I hadn't taken photos of were forming a pile in my office, so got that out of the way to start the morning.

New additions at the bottom!

Ayase Ueda spares Japan a lot of blushes but they will need to be much, much better against Brazil on Tuesday.

Online abuse of athletes has become a big problem in Japan over the last 5-6 years but I'm curious as to why it's the player's association that's putting up the money for this, rather than NPB.

The Japan Professional Baseball Players Association will use ThreatMatrix to identify and respond to online abuse of players during the NPB postseason.

The service by English company Signify identifies abusive posts, conducts takedown/ID disclosure requests, and shares data with clubs.
