I’ve definitely been feeling underpaid lately 😅 #booksky #library
A screenshot of a quote tweet. The original post reads “A librarian makes 55k???????” and has a meme of a shocked woman’s face. The user reposting this then writes “Y’all realize you need a masters degree to be a librarian? They are actually very underpaid for the work they do.”

Tonight I reserved a place for a weekend book retreat with friends. Just the three of us in a random city, in a cute little loft, with some books on our TBRs. The countdown starts now #booksky

Read a book.

Read another book.

And then read some more.

Thanks for coming to my TED talk.

Some people stop reading a book before the final chapter because they don’t want it to end. Conversely, today I set down a book for a couple hours because I didn’t care about what might happen next #booksky

This month I “only” finished eight books, which is the lowest per month total that I’ve read since July 2023. Really I’m a nerd for my reading stats and am just happy I found time to read at all #booksky

💙📚 Someone asked me this today, and it STRESSED ME OUT enough to make this handy graphic that I will save on my phone so that this travesty of a conversation never happens again.

A screenshot from Emperor’s New Groove that shows a cartoon llama desperately trying to pick up vials strewn on the floor. The image is titled “What's in my brain when someone asks, "what's your favorite book?"” The llama is titled “me.” The scattered vials are titled:

“The last book l read.”
“The last books I put on my TBR.”
“Book memes.”
“The last book l read whose plot I actually remember.”
"Spec fic."
“The series lidolized in my teens that didn't age well.”
“Roasts about popular books I didn't like.”
“Panic.”
“My favorite authors who have written a million books I can't choose between.”
“Jokes about how big my TBR is.”
“Some award winners I managed to get through but don't remember.

I did get rid of a couple boxes’ worth of books, but not quite ready to purge more. Maybe someday 😄

Update: Happy to report that all books have been shelved in my new apartment while many other (less important) things remain in boxes #booksky

Moving this weekend. Adding more bookshelves to my new place so I no longer have to store half my books as piles in the corner of my living room 🤦🏻‍♀️ #booksky

Spending the weekend in NYC and saw a great reminder for this Pride month and every month #booksky #library
Street view of the New York Public Library with two Pride rainbow banners hanging on the outer columns around the doors. The left side banner says “libraries are for everyone” and the right side banner says “protect the freedom to read”

Overheard some high schoolers talking at the #library the other day.

Teen 1: where do you read, wattpad or AO3?
Teen 2: fan fiction dot net

And so the tradition continues 😊

Need to get the wrinkles out of one of my favorite library-themed shirts. Happy Pride! #booksky

No matter how you pronounce it, I hope you come visit your local library often #booksky
The Retired School Librarian posted “all the ways I’ve heard library pronounced.” Followed by a chart with “I’m going to the… lo-BEAR-y, LIE-brar-y, li-BARE-y, li-brie, li-BERRY, LIB-air-y, library”

Finally getting around to reading two books that I kept pushing out on my #library holds list since last year. Here’s hoping they don’t disappoint #booksky

51% through a book on Libby and 27 hours until it’s due. I’ve never cut things so close 😅 #booksky #library

These book-themed stickers are so cute! #booksky
Top left sticker says “Hay poder en aprender”.
Top center sticker says “Books are better than people”.
Top right sticker says “Read more diverse books”.
Middle sticker depicts a bunch of books within the shape of a heart.
Bottom left sticker says “I was born with a reading list I will never finish -Maud Casey”.
Bottom right sticker of a full book cart says “This is how I roll”.

I think I’ve done this once in the 15+ years of my TBR list and it was to remove some classics or biographies that I know I’ll never be in the mood to pick up. If that ever changes, great, but my TBR is long enough as it is 😅

જ⁀➴ Do you go through and remove books from your TBR that you are no longer interested in reading? If so, how often? If not, why?

Book bans aren’t just about content—they’re about erasing identities.

Censorship silences stories that deserve to be told. Let’s fight for a rich variety of voices and the freedom to read.

One of my favorite superpowers at the circulation desk, but then I feel bad when I only remember the face and not the name 😅
Screenshot of a tweet that reads as follows
“Me, at the library picking up my Interlibrary Loans: Don’t you need to ask my name?
The librarian: We remember you.”

Book bans deny us our right to learn about our identities and read about different perspectives.
