SMRT Turlet: I'm in love with the shape of you...
Underrated part of the shutdown strategy: Non-wealthy, non-Riyadh Comedy Festival comedians are about to have their healthcare premiums shoot through the roof. Wonder who they'll align with in their podcasts now?
I think the point is that standard deviation bell curves would point out that like 14% of people can infer things, remember the recent past, or discern quite obvious lies.

"But when the team looked at the employees’ actual work output, they found that the developers had completed tasks 20% slower when using AI than when working without it. Researchers were stunned. “No one expected that outcome. We didn’t even really consider a slowdown as a possibility.”

The government’s social media channels are operated by incels, trolls, and YouTube commenters.
Excited to inform you all that the Department of Homeland Security is currently attempting to ratio me (and failing, as of more than two hours later).

With a heavy sigh, I repeat: bring back professionalism. For the love of god. You're running comms for the government of the USA. Act like it.

A leaked chat revealed Young Republican leaders trading bigoted slurs. Journalists at nearly every major outlet walked out of the Pentagon rather than submit to Hegseth's new rules. And a judge stepped in to stop Trump’s mass firings of federal workers. This week's top stories broken down here:

They don't exactly look good, he should obviously be in prison instead of just playing at silliness with dumb titles, but still it's not great that the British impose more consequences on literal royalty for Epstein-associated crimes than we do on our republican chief magistrate.

To everyone who says, "But this won't matter": *MAKE IT MATTER.*

You have that power! This is not inside baseball and your friends and neighbors will likely be appalled. And if they're *not* appalled, don't be cynical yourself. Take the lead, give the cue.

the more I read about the promises OpenAI has made, the more disgusted I am. They've promised to deploy 10GW of Broadcom chips *by the end of 2029*, a chip that has yet to tape out, in data centers yet to be planned or funded or the power acquired. We are in a black hole of ethics and good sense.

Seeing Broadcom, NVIDIA and AMD boost off of deals that involve OpenAI promising *each of them* 1GW of data center capacity BY THE END OF NEXT YEAR makes me furious. A data center takes 2.5 years, and none of these supposed developments have even had the land picked. It's all a lie.

Oh shit. President Crimes and his crimes friends are committing crimes with the fake money for doing crimes. Have you guys seen this.
I love how the big news on Trump’s tariff announcement is how moments before he made it a bunch of people made insanely profitable shorts on crypto, a thing that Bitcoin Bros are all astounded to see happening in a completely unregulated market of a fake currency primarily used by criminals.

A classic case of irresponsible both-sidesism from the NYT. The story is that Trump and MAGA propagandists are lying about Portland to incite a conflict, not that there are different views of the matter.
I'd just like to point out that literally no one I interact with is excited about AI, including the AI computer engineer.
My high school students had never seen or heard of a crossword puzzle before. Their brains are so social media and AI cooked, it's tough to believe.

There are lots of great reasons not to celebrate Christopher Columbus. Many moons ago in @thenation.com I wrote about one of the big ones: that the founding legend around Columbus was fabricated out of whole cloth in the 1790s to suit the needs of American politics of the moment.
The Invention of Christopher Columbus, American Hero
How the founding fathers turned Christopher Columbus, a mediocre Italian sailor and mass murderer, into a historical icon.
