As a theater student I have to demand that we take back “performative” from people who use it to mean “hollow.” “Performative” refers to acts performed for an audience which are *real* — eg, weddings — as opposed to “performance” which is when we do fake things for an audience.

I went to school with the amazing human who is Jonathan White and now he is running for congress, in Maryland! He was instrumental in trying to stop the separation of families at the border, for instance. Any support would be gratefully received! The website is still developing but read up here
