It’s fucking insane. I can not even tell you the amount of trainings we had to go through each year. DEI, equality, accessibility, etc. He pretended he was totally with us. He came to the Women’s March. We had gay parade floats.

these often splashy experiences. Sometimes I post and delete. I did realize at some point that my shame was an internalized tool of oppression. Sounds like therapyspeak but really, you did not teach you to be ashamed of yourself. Someone else, maybe more than one, got there first.

As weird as it sounds, 'eff it' is as good a description of what happened to me (the 'epiphanic change,' I guess.) just on a very dramatic scale. It did feel like my shoulder snapping back into its socket, but for my conception of my role in the world. Like I'd done what they said to my best ability

Most of the current crop of pols could be swapped for a literal street random and result in improvement.
