Our crop of purple potatoes this summer didn't do that well. But we did get SOME, and tonight we'll be eating them in a lovely beef stew. #Garden #gardensky #Homestead #Cooking

My adorable gray cat in the box that I had just barely moved. I knew the second he heard the sound of a box, he would be on his way to get in it!

Thank you. He was so cute. He sounded like one of those rubber chicken toys as he learned how and when to crow. He also fiercely protected his sister. I've been giving her extra love and treats today.

Well, we lost one to a dog and one to debris flying around during a storm. The other two are mysteries, though. If it happens again before spring, we'll save the body for a necropsy.

A photo of me at a summer fair in 2010 holding my niece. My skin is absolutely flawless which is weird because I didn't really take care of it at all back then. My grin is very Gap to and you can't see it but there's actually a tooth missing. Otherwise, my eyes look absolutely gorgeous and my hair isn't bad. I was 31 but I am telling you right now that if somebody saw this picture now they would probably guess 22/23 maybe 25 at most.

Me now with wild witchy hair and well-earned wrinkles around the eyes with bags under them because life is hard. But I still don't think most people would guess my correct age.

We use our waste to make backup chicken, dog, and cat feed for times where perhaps it isn't available or it is unaffordable considering it's mostly made out of the crops currently rotting in fields in the Midwest. Fortunately, we get pork galore from the local co-op so we always have lard on hand!

We lost my Silkie cock last night. My poor Natasha Roaminoff. They're freaking fragile. Not sure what happened. No signs of mites, fleas, worms, etc. and his poop and breathing were absolutely fine yesterday afternoon. Fuck. Just. Fuck. Karen is in the #Garden today for emotional support. #Chickens

Fluffy fluffy Karen is just so tiny next to the rainbow potato bins and the salad bin. She jumped in the salad been but she wasn't interested in finishing off what her sisters started the other day. She also stood for a while in the mixed green bins but she only nibbled a little.

Karen following a trail of seeds I left for her up to a small dish with water because I don't need her being hungry and thirsty just because she's kicking it with me today. She is just so FLUFFY. I love this breed and I am tired of all my Silkie roos dying their first year. All of them.

There are reports that the *entire* office of special education at the US Dept of Education has been cut. These hardworking folks ensure kids with disabilities get equal access to a quality education.

I would 💯 recommend growing these burgundy bush beans! The plants are so hardy, so simple to tend, and produce great food. They turn green after cooking! Oh, and bees love their flowers.

A plastic food container holds a stack of long and somewhat fat purple beans that would normally be called green beans except they're purple. They're supposed to be burgundy but to me they look purple. Anyway, they look awesome and they taste better.

A patch of bush beans takes a long trip through the east side of my garden and stops a few feet away from my rainbow potato bins. A madam leota headstone is on the right side. Little teepees made out of plastic rods are where some peas are growing. To the left you can see part of the trunk of one of our apple trees.

Lol. Gardening while high!
