The office that will implement new student loan repayment plans, which will cause many student loan borrowers’ payments to skyrocket and force some borrowers to repay for as long as 30 years.

a key thing about vought — and all of these guys — is that they have a totally top down and hierarchical vision of the world. they believe that the cultural changes they hate can be turned off by destroying the federal government because they can’t imagine that they emerged bottom-up in society

What he’s railing against is a profound shift in culture, status… He’s obsessed with the idea that America is controlled by a leftist “ruling elite” - but “elite” isn’t defined socio-economically or by political power, it means something like: Getting to define “real America” and who gets to belong.

More info about the illegal firings at the US Dept of Education have been shared by the staff union with advocates.

Notably absent is the office that will implement the “Beautiful Bill,” which will significantly increase many student loan borrowers’ payments.

In some or many of these cases the entire office may have been eliminated.

These cuts touch every facet of the country’s education system and, if they proceed, will do immense harm to students and families across the country.

2) The work necessary to carry out mass firings is illegal during a shutdown, violating the Antideficiency Act, which carries a criminal penalty
