How did we end up in a world where ICE agents are indistinguishable from the Proud Boys who stormed the Capitol on January 6?

VIGILANTE NATION tells the story of the insidious state laws behind MAGA's return to power, and it's out in paperback today.

It would be comforting if this were a stand for rule of law. It’s not. It’s GOP corporate services. Which tells us how much impact corporate America could have resisting fascism if corporate America were truly interested in resisting fascism.
Trump admin stepping on a rake with the Powell probe. 6 R senators panning it … including people who don’t like Powell!

Powell investigation backfires with Hill Republicans
The Trump administration has stepped on a proverbial rake with its party, where even the central bank chair’s detractors didn’t want to defend the probe.

I saw some posts yesterday saying the market was shrugging off Trump's latest attack on the Fed. In fact, what we saw is that he was immediately beat.

Eric Adams, former NYC mayor, launched a memecoin (cryptocurrency) today. He marketed it as an “NYC Token” and used media appearances and his social media to promote it.

Within hours, Adams then drained its liquidity, apparently having scammed investors out of $3.4 million—a move called a rug pull.

"Experts say"
The Justice Department is considering prosecuting Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell at the same time that President Trump has pressured Powell to lower interest rates before the midterms.

The move could threaten the rule of law, experts say.

Legal experts warn it threatens the rule of law, and economists warn it threatens the stability of the U.S. economy.

It really is upsetting to see the Department of Labor—once headed by Frances Perkins, the woman behind the New Deal, who unapologetically bent immigration rules to save thousands of Jewish refugees from Nazi Germany—posting fascist Reichslop like this

I'm probably over-reading things, but Kelly successfully securing top-notch BigLaw representation is an encouraging sign.
BREAKING: Senator Mark Kelly sues Pete Hegseth, DOD, and others over Hegseth's censure of Kelly and effort to reduce his retirement grade, alleging violations of the First Amendment, due process, Speech & Debate Clause, and federal laws.

Kelly is represented by Arnold & Porter.

This is so insightful and really the ballgame with the Fed argument later this month. Does Roberts view Trump as a *liability* to the long term Republican project, at least w/r/t the Fed.
The Chief’s every move is predicated on his understanding that Republicans created the Roberts Court to rule our country. When he moves a majority against Trump, that’s not moderation. It’s a recognition that Trump’s become a liability Roberts’s project to perpetuate Republican power.
