The Lake George wildfire is now under control. That means the fire is responding well to suppression efforts. It is not expected to grow beyond the current estimated 288 hectares. We anticipate extinguishing it before winter conditions arrive. No structures were damaged.

LAKE GEORGE WILDFIRE UPDATE

13:00: The Lake George wildfire is still out of control and grew slightly to an estimated 288 hectares due to ongoing dry, windy conditions. No reports of damage to structures. The fire is burning deep and today’s high temperature will be a challenge.

Every Monday, or Sunday night, I look at my schedule, consider my anxiety, & cancel or move anything that I think isn’t urgent & is causing me too much stress for something not urgent.

It’s… really helpful.

12:35: The Lake George wildfire remains uncontrolled this afternoon, with winds still gusty but less intense than previous days. Humidity levels are expected to stay relatively high today, which will support fire suppression efforts.

11:45: Yesterday afternoon, October 4, Canning fire personnel responded to reports of smoke visible across the Bay, near Baxters Harbour and seen from Scott's Bay (Kings County). Upon arrival in the area, crews confirmed the smoke.

LAKE GEORGE WILDFIRE UPDATE

11:11: The Lake George wildfire remains out of control. The fire grew by an estimated 5 hectares yesterday in unfavourable firefighting conditions, bringing the total size to around 250 hectares.

18:12: The Lake George wildfire remains out of control, currently estimated at 245 ha. There are no reports of structural damage at this time. Efforts to construct fire breaks around the perimeter are ongoing. Three additional contracted helicopters arrived today and will begin operations tomorrow.

The current response on site includes 23 (DNR) personnel, 20 local firefighters, four from the Northwest Territories, one DNR helicopter, two contracted helicopters, and 18 pieces of heavy equipment engaged in constructing fire breaks.

10:05: The Lake George wildfire near Aylesford, Kings County, remains uncontrolled. Although evacuations have been carried out, there are currently no reports of structural damage.

15:00: The wildfire remains uncontrolled in Lake George, Kings County. Water bombers are actively working to reduce its intensity and protect structures. Heavy machinery is being used to create fire breaks where safe to do so, and structural protection assets are deployed near structures.

10:55: The Lake George wildfire has expanded to approximately 290 hectares. Nova Scotia Emergency Management, along with local fire departments, are actively working to protect structures and homes. Additional evacuations were recently ordered by the Municipality of the County of Kings.
