I’m treating WIP Wednesday as more of a tease this week since MY BIG BANG FIC STARTS POSTING ON FRIDAY!!!!

So, today I’m offering you the first scene of the first chapter!

CW: sexual harassment in the workplace

"I look forward to hearing your response, please courier it to me at you earliest convenience. Regards, Constance Frazier." The alpha turns to look at Steve Harrington, her gaze sharp as she tests the young omega's suitability as a secretary on his first day out of the typing pool. "Did you get all that?"

"Yes, sir," Steve mumbles under her intense gaze, looking back over his shorthand notes, the quick loops and lines indecipherable to the alpha.

"Read it back to be sure."

Steve does, following the order easily, pausing at the proper nouns since he had to guess at the spelling, mispronouncing a few which earns him a grumbled reprimand followed by their spellings. He makes quick corrections, and once he's gotten the go-ahead—a codescending nod—Steve slips into his place at the secretary desk, and sets

His typing is slow as he starts, careful not to make a single mistake, knowing his place here is the only thing keeping him off endless laundry duty at St. Mary's. Still, his skin prickles at the feeling of being watched. Steve truly hopes he does well enough for the day, but not so well he is kept in this little office; he misses the typist pool with the other girls and omegas, keys clacking as they gossip and joke together.

He has nearly finished when he feels a hand on his shoulder, the alpha's body pressed against his back, leaning over him. "Not bad," she says, voice cold. "Bit slow, but you are a pretty one." The hand slides forward, down to his chest.

She squeezes, thumb seeking to rub over the peak of his nipple.

"Stop," Steve says, jerking away from the touch and curling in on himself. "Please." Pushing himself to his feet, Steve puts distance between them, waits for her to laugh it off, call it a silly misunderstanding the way alphas usually do.

Instead, her laugh is dark. "Don't be a fool, Miss Harrington. I'm surprised you haven't gotten worse from the foreman." She smirks. Mr. Walsh leers plenty, but back in the pool there's safety in numbers.

"I'm just trying to do my job," Steve says, soft but defiant as he stares her down.

"Then sit back down, and finish." Her hand grips the back of the chair, face flushed.

Steve shakes his head. "Find someone else." Slowly, he backs towards the office door with its pebbled glass window and gold lettering.

Mr. Frazier advances on him, quick enough to put herself between Steve and his escape. "You have not been dismissed, Miss Harrington, and you certainly don't have the means to deny m-"

Her hand closes around Steve's upper arm.

He wrenches out of her grasp, barking, "Don't!" as the leather soles of his shoes slip on the wood floors in his haste. Steve has always been agile and athletic, and he ducks out of reach, yanks open the office door and bolts down the hallway.

"I'd best not catch you back here, you stupid little slut!" the alpha calls after him.

She won't. There isn't enough money in the U.S. Treasury to get Steve to go back there ever again.
