House Bill 23 would prohibit classroom instruction or discussions related to gender identity or sexual orientation in public school grades pre-K -12.
It would prevent teachers and education employees from displaying a flag or insignia (rainbow, for instance) relating to sexual orientation or gender identity on school property, and also keep teachers from referring to a student by pronouns inconsistent with the student's biological sex at birth.
The bill is sponsored by House Reps. Mack Butler, Ben Harrison, and Mark Gidley. THIS BILL IS FAST TRACKED TO BE INTRODUCED ON THE FIRST DAY OF THE 2026 SESSION (1/13).
