She's dark colors centered in a room full of reds, greens, and gold. But, at the same time, the eyeband and her hair part fit the fabric in the scene. Same for the gold DRK weapon matching the cup and furniture.

I think it's the lighting and how it works well with the pose. It's dim enough to evoke a somber, thoughtful atmosphere but not so dark as to obscure details and colors in the foreground and background.
The centering with the fabric in the ceiling is also just a nice touch.

Hmmm. The couples ones are always a personal favorite since I'm a sucker for cute stuff. The seikret pose was also very cute.

Like most parts of his life, Reliq enjoys a balance of different flavors in his diet. Or, at least, that's what he'd claim. In reality, he's a fiend for sweets and loves spice.
If he can get away with it, his ideal treat is a baked good and a dirty chai with plenty of cream on top.

His home, family, community, and what his lot in life was expected to be.
Reliq was raised on a farmstead community between Thanalan and the Black Shroud and was meant to take over as the family's trade caravan leader. His dad's death and a desire to learn how and why led him to let go of it all.

While Reliq might not have gone through the resistance training for poisons Dunesfolk are noted for, he was absolutely raised to appreciate spice.
He likely wouldn't just bite into a Reaper, but he loves using dry, earthy heat to season juicy meat or a strong sauce in a soup or vegetable dish.

The thought of him still looking like himself but biologically female just felt a little...presumptuous?
He might not care about his visual gender and thus might not change much but his carelessness might also throw a spanner in the works.
Hmmm, I think this thought needs to cook a little longer.

If I were to, I'd be inclined to go with the latter since changing his skin tone is a little....narratively iffy.
But I like the idea that he might look more like his mother, since he'd likely visualize her when considering becoming one himself. Then again, even that's a little too Freudian.

Apparently, my brain's been cooking this on the back burner because I had a random thought:

If Reliq were to pop a Fantasia, he likely wouldn't have a specific look in mind; just a biological goal. Would there be unexpected changes? Paler skin or eyes like his Plainsfolk mother, maybe? 🤔

Now that I think about it, he is very much like Urianger in that regard. Naturally shy and physically distant, often to better protect how obvious his facades can be, but close to those he trusts.

Personally, I find it very cute how he unconsciously moves closer to his friends. It might be a defensive instinct, both seeking protection and also ready to protect if something happens, but he'll move away if he notices he's doing it.

If he doesn't twitch away, though, you know you're in.

No. Trauma, expectations, and a general wariness of others has taught Reliq to wear masks well. He is steadily learning to be more open though. It just takes him time to evaluate how open he wants to be in any interaction.
Friends might notice how much physical proximity he allows as an easy tell.
