Hi everyone! o/ Would your OC hug someone in distress if they knew that person wanted/needed it? That could be a mourning parent/orphan, grieving spouse, etc but only someone met in passing -- no named figures and no political gains here!

Or would they be unable to, and why?

And to circle back to Kiki, she fries batter on makeshift grills and wonders why it goes poorly. She's Raen, but she may as well be Nashu's sister from another mister, that's about her level of brain power.

In shared WoL-verses, he maintains slight bristling with Ishgardian elites and gets on far better with people like Estinien and Hilda. If offered fancy food, he asks for it to be bagged up and gives it away.

He knows it's weird. He's working on it! It gets better later, but uh, too soon, Aymeric.

> at least not by this point. For him, sitting in a wealthy man's manor and indulging in a large meal while others starved in the cold was tone-deaf, brief though it was intended to be. He felt forced into attending. It is no question he would go to the aid of someone in need rather than stay.
egeiros.bsky.social
He struggles a lot with the Ishgard's isolationist stance, originating from an isolated area himself and suffering the consequences of not adhering to ancient traditions, being utterly powerless to change them.

Yuuki also does not tolerate lavish dining. He does not eat to indulge and relax, >

My silly non-WoL/sometimes WoL takes everything wrong, because she's silly and young. My goofy Raen girl, Kiki, lets her imagination run wild with everything.

Yuuki, my exiled Viera, takes the forced dinner with Aymeric very poorly, well-intended though it may have been. >

I had this thought while considering my WoL's reaction to big story moments:

Has your WoL(OC) taken another character's words the wrong way or misinterpreted their meaning? Did it affect their feelings toward that character? Did the misunderstanding ever get cleared up?
egeiros.bsky.social
> that someone was willing to risk even a sliver of theirs for a cause he was fighting for.

(It is likely they have to get through layers of "you shouldn't take risks for me though, value yourself," says the former Viera warder very hypocritically..!)

He essentially felt at that point it was an extension of his inadequacy as someone who was meant to be a solitary defender of the woods, and he'll say as much in not so many words.

Though he will also say that people aren't meant to spend a lifetime alone, and that he is grateful>
egeiros.bsky.social
> with things that were risky, but important. He was used to being denied work and being discounted as too visibly damaged to be of much use (barring the Scions, they didn't talk like that), but he needed to push past a lot of anxiety and self-worth issues to ask for help getting prosthetic parts.
egeiros.bsky.social
He is hesitant to confess this to most, but he is afraid almost all of the time. He worries. He fears failing people now that he has them.

When he was tired enough of repeated failures that he took blame for, he asked for help clumsily. First with something small, washing his hair (amputee), then >

He's Viera. It took time. He was too used to having it drilled in that there is no help, it is just you, and if you are not enough then you die and another will replace you. If he hadn't been a Warder, it may have been less of a hurdle. He used to be better at it.

#wolqotd Today my tarot deck gave me the Three of Pentacles, a card of teamwork and collaboration toward building something.

What was a time your character needed to reach out to others to accomplish their goals? How did they feel about not having the power to do it all themselves?
egeiros.bsky.social
He, both of his sisters, and actually quite a few unrelated Viera he knew back then still have these odd dislikes of entering the large, off-center archival center but they all give different answers as to why.

(It's memory fuckery, it's all of that nonsense, feels bad!!)
egeiros.bsky.social
His cover story (the crummy one he got) was that it was an accidental swing with a botany axe by another young Viera who didn't get along with him, and that both were at fault, but that the other Viera was provoked first. He was told it would be "unbecoming to be too angry with her."
egeiros.bsky.social
His mother gave him that as a show of obedience and a promise to keep him in line while her superiors assisted with altering the memory of how he got it on his end of things. It's stressful, sickening, he doesn't like it, but he can't remember.

Jury's out on if he ever does! Maybe I'll allow it.

Anyone looking at the guy littered with ugly scars might think it odd that that one out of all of them gives him such trouble, but it's nauseating to him -- and not for vanity reasons. He doesn't know, but it's the body kind of yearning & remembering where his mind doesn't quite get there, >>
egeiros.bsky.social
He can stand to look at the scars on his neck and even his arm, but he cannot tolerate looking at his eye and keeps it covered. His explanation for that one doesn't make sense but is all he has to work with, and curious as he is, he can't think of looking into it further.
egeiros.bsky.social
>> more about tampering with how he has to use his own aether due to tipping the balance of it. He can still do it, it just required working at it to get a feel for his new baseline.

The one that hurts him more inexplicably (to him!) is his the comparably superficial scar over his eye.

The easy answer would be the injury that just about took Yuuki's arm off at the shoulder, and ultimately resulted in amputation. That one was difficult, as was the injury around his neck, and both left him with differing disabilities -- one obvious limb loss, the other >>

What is the worst injury your WoL/OC has ever had? Were they able to recover, or did it prove life-changing for them?

If not that, then something small like a discarded seashell, maybe. Even after the life has departed, here was the proof it ever was. Also, sitting and putting it up to your ear to just listen and be with it can be very centering, and good gods are some of the Ancients rigid and tense...

Brainless answer: nothing but himself, which includes his regular prosthetic, because in a world where you have Ancients with huge fountains of aether who snap things into being, why would an item like that even be a thing over fixing the base damage or returning to the star?

Your WoL/OC can bring a single object from the present day with them to Elpis, to show to the people of the Ancient world. What do they bring with them and why?

If they could take one item back with them, what would it be?
egeiros.bsky.social
Oh no... Yes, very fair that he would hold a lot of pain over that! :c I bet it made the missions to the Castra sites that much more personal too, having lost people to Garlean & conscripted soldiers.

Someone really should start a former Warder support group! They could probably all use one. ♥

Hi5 for you in shared former Wood Warder WoLs! I have yet to answer my own question here, but that would have been one of my potential replies too. That or the general lonely nastiness of that sacred duty. (Mine has no love for where he came from!)

Warders are lonely guys who deserve more hugs lbr

Au Ra in Dravania had it pretty rough if the DRK quests are anything to go by...

Ysayle absolutely would be curious about that too, she really had a tender heart. Was sad to see her go. After seeing a harmonious community in more recent time, do you think she would have tried to find remains of it?
egeiros.bsky.social
I have to say that I really love how everyone's characters fit the bill for that scene so differently! (I just like to talk character lore...)

Also special love for WoLs who witnessed the Calamity. I think only one of mine kinda did but only peripherally, she was a bit sheltered from it.
