While I have never been tempted to roleplay my potato, I love him so much that I felt compelled to make a detailed pair of reference sheets.
I mainly did this to make requesting commissions of him that much easier, but it's also just a good intro for my little bean.

Unless they're someone Reliq knows, he wouldn't go so far as to hug them. He'd rather sit with them awhile and offer whatever support he can. If they want to hug him, then that's fine.
If he has reason to believe it isn't his place to offer support, though, he'll go and look for someone who could.

Hi everyone! o/ Would your OC hug someone in distress if they knew that person wanted/needed it? That could be a mourning parent/orphan, grieving spouse, etc but only someone met in passing -- no named figures and no political gains here!

Or would they be unable to, and why?

While Reliq might not have gone through the resistance training for poisons Dunesfolk are noted for, he was absolutely raised to appreciate spice.
He likely wouldn't just bite into a Reaper, but he loves using dry, earthy heat to season juicy meat or a strong sauce in a soup or vegetable dish.

An option select list for various levels of spice for a meal. It lists:
American Mild, American Medium, American Spicy, American Very Spicy, Mild, Medium, Spicy, Very Spicy. The joke is that US American tolerance for spice is significantly lower than that of other people.

The thought of him still looking like himself but biologically female just felt a little...presumptuous?
He might not care about his visual gender and thus might not change much but his carelessness might also throw a spanner in the works.
Hmmm, I think this thought needs to cook a little longer.

If I were to, I'd be inclined to go with the latter since changing his skin tone is a little....narratively iffy.
But I like the idea that he might look more like his mother, since he'd likely visualize her when considering becoming one himself. Then again, even that's a little too Freudian.

Apparently, my brain's been cooking this on the back burner because I had a random thought:

If Reliq were to pop a Fantasia, he likely wouldn't have a specific look in mind; just a biological goal. Would there be unexpected changes? Paler skin or eyes like his Plainsfolk mother, maybe? 🤔

No, but Reliq's recently started to think he'd like to. Neither he nor Nananji are at a point in their relationship to seriously consider it, but the thought is lingering in the back of his mind.
Once they settle down, I think adoption or Reliq popping a Fantasia are equally likely.

Now that I think about it, he is very much like Urianger in that regard. Naturally shy and physically distant, often to better protect how obvious his facades can be, but close to those he trusts.

Personally, I find it very cute how he unconsciously moves closer to his friends. It might be a defensive instinct, both seeking protection and also ready to protect if something happens, but he'll move away if he notices he's doing it.

If he doesn't twitch away, though, you know you're in.

No. Trauma, expectations, and a general wariness of others has taught Reliq to wear masks well. He is steadily learning to be more open though. It just takes him time to evaluate how open he wants to be in any interaction.
Friends might notice how much physical proximity he allows as an easy tell.

Lalafell man: I want to know if werewolf blood would taste any different. It doesn't have to be from the neck, of course! Just a drop from your finger for example.

Baba: Oh! Well if it's a drop I wouldn't mind much, I guess? Though...

Panel 3: Baba talks, scratching her cheek as a slight sheepish gesture. Meanwhile, Naldtala intensely stares at the lalafell man with a dark gaze.

Baba: You see, as a woodsfarer I tend to expose myself in all kinds of situations which sometimes lead me to bear curses or poison. Though I have immunity to most of them now for safety measures my blood would do no good for a newly converted. So-

Panel 4: The lalafell man sprints toward opposite side of the couple. Baba and Naldtala watch him as he leaves and runs away.

Lalafell man: N- No problem! Thank you for the delivery! I- I have to go! Thank you, farewell!

Baba: Huh? oh, okay! Take care.

To be fair--and my question has kinda dragged out this realization--the Scions do mislead the WoL a lot. Whether it be hiding the truth for "the greater good," outright manipulating you, or tricking you so they pull their own superhero nonsense, it is a bad habit of theirs. Thancred especially.

It is always a special moment when your WoL quotes another character. I think Raha might be the only one who has gotten to hear the WoL use his words though.
And that is a special privilege.

Valid. A lot of people around the WoL tend to lie and manipulate them for what they consider their/the world's own good.
That certain someone does take it an extra step with how much they idolize you though. So, if they'd be willing to do that to their idol, it definitely raises some red flags.
